Comics, vinyl, and beer. Stage IV cancer - welcome to the last days of disco.
Ever wonder if the world is working against you? Consider my wife who went to the bank this morning to make the final payment on her car. As she left - her car wouldn’t start. Today’s also the bday of her dad whom we tragically lost. And her husband is still dying of cancer. So yes, it probably is.

The fact that someone recommended the film Matongo to me at a tea shop today makes me feel like there are still things worth saving about this world.

On one hand - not many people watched Alien:Earth. On the other, I loved the creative guessing from the kids who came to get candy. Radiation kept me limited this year, but damn I still love Halloween.

Some parents may frown upon their kid stalling during bedtime, but my kiddo dancing in her underwear to Ezra Furman’s cover of “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher” is my new favorite thing in the world. Dance moves were A+, but the “we gotta go” false stops thematically elevated it.

When your daughter wants to go as a family of otters for Halloween and you just wanna be the sheep from Alien: Earth -some compromises get made.

Found my happy place for a little bit today. Didn’t know how well I would hold up in the face of GABF weekend, but I definitely felt like my old self.

Made a brief excursion on the way out from a family trip to Coachella Valley. A bit rushed, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Feeling grateful living long enough to see another season of NFL. The universe gave me a great day in the middle of this chaos. Friends took me to see the Titans (and Broncos). Somebody bought me a beer just cuz and it made my day. Annie geeked out because the mayor was in our section. Great day!

Took the kiddo to an Eric Bachmann concert the night before her first day of school. Hashtag bad parenting. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I talk a lot about making good memories with the kiddo in the time I have left. Sometimes I’m thrown a wild assist. Tonight she randomly got picked to go on stage and do Biz’s Beat of the Day at the Yo Gabba Gabba Live show. The give and take randomness of life can be hard but I’m thankful for this.

The pancreatic cancer vaccine trials have been so promising, this would have been a literal life saver for so many and now its gone. I cant tell you how heart breaking this is. Horror after horror with this administration.
"The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today announced the beginning of a coordinated wind-down of its mRNA vaccine development activities...."

Following my diagnosis when it was said my health would deteriorate quickly and after the family stuff I contemplated the silly stuff I’d likely miss like the new Fantastic Four movie. I am a comic book nerd to the end. So a little emotional to be at the @alamodrafthouse.bsky.social today.

I once saw @themountaingoats.bsky.social at a Sound & Fury in-store a long time ago. I was in radio promo and someone handed me a CDR. Little did I know this would become one of my favorite bands of the last two decades. All this to say the latest from Herman Dune is as lovely as ever.

Me after a half dozen drinks and a few episodes of X-Files trying to convince my dad he’d be way into @jamesthefourth.bsky.social if he read comics is a new kind of energy.

24hrs into the “probably last trip to “original” home” post-diagnosis. I made a list of things for the fam and I to do. @treehousebrewing.bsky.social was a great start to the trip for the wife and I. For all the great beer back home in CO this may be our favorite US brewery.

More accurate than any paternity test 🤣 Happy Fathers Day for those that celebrate.

My kiddo freestyled a two minute punk song about not wanting to go to bed. I think about the possibility of her actually having any musical talent and it makes me giddy.

Driving my kiddo to daycare this morning and The Toy Dolls came on. She remarked - I like this daddy...they sound like pirates.

In just a few years, I’ve transformed my wife into someone who yells at the TV during basketball games and whose night isn’t over until after Inside the NBA. Very proud of that.

Got tix to see Pulp at Red Rocks so there is the next “live long enough to see…” goal after my kiddo enters kindergarten later this year.

I insisted on a cereal bar for this years Easter Brunch. I just want you to know that such a thing does not disappoint.

Cancer brain: This could be my last RSD so let’s do it one more time.

Me seeing the line at 7AM: uhhhh…well, I can get breakfast burritos on the way home at least.

My thanks to @unclegrambo.bsky.social for asking me to write about Val Kilmer for @deciderdotcom.bsky.social: decider.com/2025/04/06/v...
Val Kilmer was Gen X's Brando: Messy, gorgeous, and defiant
Kilmer could never completely hide his wisdom.

Putting this out there. I have an EP called Tiny Lights credited to ESP Allstars. As far as I can tell it doesn't exist on the internet. Discogs has 1 listing for a CD promo (that's I'd love to find, but also is nowhere online). Discogs refers to Element 115 and Norman, OK. Anyone have any leads?
