Thanks so much @bwaber.bsky.social!
Last was "Who Pays for Diversity?" by @oneyaokuwobi.bsky.social, who demonstrates the limitations and costs of organizational diversity initiatives. This is one of the best management books I've ever read. Highly recommend

The religion of the majority of white Christians is whiteness ( Emerson and Bracey 2024). Therefore anyone who stands against white supremacy they no longer consider a brother or sister, but an enemy.
The Trump Administration respecting Christianity by shooting Rev. Jorge Bautista in the face with a pepper spray gun while he silently protested ICE.

Clearly, there are many Italian people who should have been honored instead. But honoring Columbus had the ability to help elevate Italians into whiteness because of his connection to genocide and white supremacy. His cruelty is part of the point.

Great new post by @gerardomarti.bsky.social especially important for those leading multiracial spaces and antiracist efforts. “Until denominational leaders interrogate how white comfort shapes every institutional decision, antiracism will remain an aspiration rather than a practice.”

New article alert 🚨
Just out in JSSR- I and colleagues examine how racial salience, rather than racial category, generates inequalities in an “antiracist” organization. Importantly, the title is dope!

Thanks for reading @novumsimulacrum.com and important question! I remain hopeful, but only if we start to see real models of change that can be amplified and become the standard. Time will tell.
Got @oneyaokuwobi.bsky.social 's book after ASA. Now, I'm wondering if higher ed survives this moment, what comes next? Are we going to take real steps towards equity and justice? Or will institutions pat themselves on the back for weathering this storm w/ no change? www.ucpress.edu/books/who-pa...

Some politicians are working to end DEI programs. Are they worth saving?
A new book argues such programs often end up causing harm to the very people they purport to help: employees of color.

I was surprised to learn that my grandparents, who have watched the stories since before I was born, vehemently dislike Beyond the Gates. When I asked them why, they said they like watching white folks act a fool, not Black ones 🤣 #BeyondTheGates #BTG
