Origin Story

1.76 acres is the playing area of the pitch at the Emirates.

115 yards x 74 yards = 76,590 square feet

76,590 square feet/43560 square feet per acre = 1.76 acres.
I forgot that if I spend any kind of time here I'm definitely getting curling spoilers.

I've got it.

If you play 1st and win you get conditional credit.

If you play 2nd and win after the team you are chasing goes 1st and wins then you get TWICE their credit but the SAME # of points.

If you play 1st and draw and your rival plays 2nd but loses you get LESS credit (though MORE points).

Wait, did they make points available in the Premier League for a cup final? WTF.

Seems unprecedented if true.

Football Bluesky's most suspect group of people?

Today’s mediot brain teaser:

See if you can figure out the difference between these two pictures.

If you went to bed Friday and woke up today you’d be shocked to find out that Arsenal’s six point lead at the top of the table had been imperiously chewed into by Manchester City and was now down to a tighter, scarier…six points.

Dale Johnson may be gone but the ESPN VAR review is still the “why the refs got it 100% right” rubber stamp it was when he was there.

The Keshani tweet but in the States it’s about the NY Jets.

Look, if you repeatedly watch a sport that has like 3 seconds of action for every three minutes of time, is littered with commercial breaks, and then spend time posting complaints about not being entertained, I think that’s on you.

Starting to remember why I gave up the NFL as a viewing experience.

Wait does Joe Montana play the old guy in “Shrinking”?
February 8, 2026 at 11:35 PM
Playing first, winning, then the team behind you playing and matching your result isn’t them “closing the gap”. It’s them *keeping pace*.

This is not something that has ever been confusing to me with US sports.

The PL has a very strange narrative dynamic with games in hand.

I just realized that a whole bunch of the media thinks the in-game “live standings” are the actual standings.

Wut?
February 8, 2026 at 9:44 PM
The breathless pundits project their own vulnerability to emotional swings onto players. Which is why today’s game was such a big thing for them. They think/hope everyone is as vulnerable to the narrative as they are.

But the players (and some, but not all, of us) are a bit sturdier than that.

How many points behind were they before this game week?

Thought that was in from McCabe.

What great work from Russo beforehand.

MOTD is making me laugh.

Focus on what Sunderland did well, Shearer saying Sunderland should have scored one or two. And that they were “always in this game”.

Guys like him are supposed to know, but do not know, what they are watching.

Their heads are gone.

It’s a riot.

That’s another 7.14% of the remaining schedule gone and nobody can pick up points on us.
