Women and children‘s safety needs to take centre stage in this election yet neither major party has announced any additional measures.

I should add that I spent hours and hours in courtrooms as a reporter in London and before that as a member of court staff in Leeds. These aren't rogue examples – this archaic way of treating people who even might be victims of serious offences is the norm.

Here's another example from a court report by Saman Javed at Hyphen, where a domestic abuse survivor is told by a barrister: "If he did assault you, you would have contacted the police." Repeating the trauma she'd already experienced. It's garbage.
