As I transition from 'that place' it struck me I should warn people who follow me what they might be letting themselves in for?

- Luke warm opinions on RPGs
- Capsule comments on our RPG sessions
- Pics of adequately painted minis
- Tiny bit of promotion for my blogs/Patreon
- Geordie dad humour
Could this week be any worse? Sliced by nail making tea last night, and the thing has come away now. So I have a nice big plaster on my left index finger, making typing less than efficient. So, when it's pissing down with rain outside, I can't even easily crack on with D&H or Liminal stuff #ouch

So I asked my daughter to proof read of D&Hv2. What I expected was the application of her degree-level English skills to the text. What I got was a litany of sarcastic comments.

"What is your obsession with hypens?"
"What has the humble full stop done to you?"
"Widow. Another widow. Another widow"

I wonder whether there will be a tipping point where the writing ticks of AI as presented in scripts for Tik Tok etc. will become so normalised that they bleed into people's own expressions? It won't just be a disaster - it will change the written form forever.

In which I discuss the start for our new Werewolf game and why getting a solid base to play from is so important for all games, but I believe in this 1-on-1 scenario especially

Session 1 of Werewolf: Roadtrip today, with @fandomlife.net

1-on-1 drama antics inspired by modern cowboy tales and gothic Americana. Fascinating and fun experiment in laying down a rock solid premise and then riffing hard to make great choices.

My gaming brain is doing some hard handbrake turns at the mo'. I'm exiting Arthurian Liminal headspace, taking a detour into 1809 and all the Peninsular War action I can muster, and then bodyswerving into midwest USA wandering small town werewolf stories...before I start planning teen e-sport drama!

When did I become this organised? Everything planned and printed for my D&H2 playtest on Friday morning, next week's Liminal game and my first session proper with @fandomlife.net for WW5e. The days of Last Minute Charlie seem to have disappeared...

Finally watching 28 Years Later. So Spike and his mam hoof it across land from Holy Island to near the Angel of the North eh? And from where they were standing, straight by the Metro Centre and Newcastle, stood on the hill next to Lobley Hill Rd.

Fast travel, dodged all the Geordie zombies too

Started watching Yellowstone as research for an RPG thing. It's about the least Neil show I have ever watched. It's the anti-Neil, however there's definitely something there. I continue with my modern cowboy conversion...

Hey North East folks, if social justice and socially conscious business is your thing, the lovely people at Society Matters are on Bluesky now. You might even see my handsome mug popping up there from time to time!

Quick WWE snark: I hate it when wrasslin' tries to merge real life logic with in-ring antics, like wrestlers pressing charges against each other. As if the unspoken pantomime rules of pro-wrestling don't apply.

See the emerging storyline from RAW last night between Bron Breakker and Adam Pearce?

Cracking game of Daggerheart with @eddieap76.bsky.social on Sunday. To earn our underwater breathing gills, the local archmage challenged us to face the dreaming versions of our own worst moments, riffing off the background questions. We each learned about our instigating moments and bonding as...

My good deed for the day was telling the staff that this book absolutely does not belong in the kids section. Not ever.

Quoting this so-as not to dilute the replies but this has got me thinking about the possible perceived hierarchy in the RPG scene

Publishers
Designers
Con Organisers (?)
GMs
Players
Purchasers

There may be a place in there for reviewers but I'm not sure.

It explains the glee when some people...
I'm thinking about how, when we tell histories of games, we tend to venerate "great designers" (usually men). There's a harm in that and I'm struggling to articulate it.

Does anyone have any academic references that would help, especially by historians or from feminist criticism?

When lyrics creep up on you... 15 Years, by the Levellers.

"He's never been kept waiting, cos he pays the landlord's wage"

I always assumed this wasbecause he was a high spending regular. It only just struck me because he could be the landlords employer, drinking in his own pub. Different take.

Do you know what I would love to do? A 'full production' RPG campaign.

You know the ones - maps, music, minis, artwork, handouts - the works. Session on session. Proper commitment to create an ongoing gaming experience. The game is layers and reintegration of ideas and characters. Ah, bliss...

After a brief hiatus, gaming returns to the Gow household this weekend. Lara is off on her Cthulhu adventures tonight, I'm in Saltmarsh with Daggerheart and @eddieap76.bsky.social on Sunday, we restart the Caliburn Chronicles on Tuesday, and the first D&H playtest is next Friday. Whoo hooo!

I emerged, blinking into the light, at 17.00 last night, having finally finished the first redraft of Duty & Honour. Weighing in at 160pp, author and draft printed copy are doing well...

It's a very weird feeling to have it so far down the line so soon, never thought I'd see the day etc.

I'm at the 'things I left to do later' part of the D&Hv2 draft - it's like a snag list for decorating a room. I hate doing snag lists and I hate doing this too, just saying...

I'm fascinated with watching Stranger Things fandoms go through the stages of grief, in real time.

Denial - That wasn't what I wanted. What about X, Y and Z?
Anger - Well that was SHIT!
Bargaining - Hang on, if you line some letters up, ignore some others... it's a CLUE!!

I await Depression...

Woke up at 4am ... no snow
Woke up at 8am ... no snow
Emerged from writing pit at 10.30am ... fucking NARNIA

Well, I guess D&H V2 draft 1 gets finished today then?!

In which I give a sort of tongue-in-cheek bittersweet prediction for the fates of the lives of the Stranger Things kids after the finale, based in the late 80s/early 90s they will find themselves in.

Needless to say, riddled with spoilers, read accordingly

After some wrangling to resurrect it, just killed my X (account).
Not one pang of regret was felt.
