There is a risk the grenade explodes in the air, & with people moving, it may detonate in their face, causing severe injury.

There is no clear danger being caused by the protesters, other weapons have already been used to disperse the crowd, & the officer throwing the grenade underarm releases it from his hand in the air. This type of use is dangerous at such short range.

We call on States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention (including Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office) to work with the OPCW to investigate the claims made.
The chemical reportedly used, camite/bromobenyzyl cyanide, is not listed on the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)’s list of acceptable chemicals for use in domestic law enforcement. Any alleged use would amount to a breach of the Chemical Weapons Convention.

Milipol : des armes illégales promues sur le salon à Paris
La France accueillait cette semaine le salon Milipol, l’un des plus gros événements mondiaux de l’armement. Nos équipes et celles de la Fondation Omega Research Foundation ont obtenu un accès sur place. Elles ont identifié la présence d’armes illégales, exposées par des entreprises chinoises. Nous avons alerté les organisateurs. Les instruments ont été retiré, un stand a été fermé. On fait le point.
