Heartwarming to be at East Craigs Primary's Winter Wishes assembly this morning. Wishes included world peace, an end to loneliness, the healing of a mum's broken foot, and snow, the last request from a pupil from Hong Kong who has never seen snow. So now we are dreaming of a white Christmas.

Christmas in Corstorphine approaches with a fun and fantastic time at the turning on of the lights on the tree.

It's #SteepleSaturday again, so here's our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek, the wonderful @oldparishcors.bsky.social in Edinburgh

Its distinctive 15th century tower and truncated spire has survived relatively unscathed since the 15th century when it was built as a collegiate church by Sir Adam Forrester.

Spooky goings on in St Margaret's Park this afternoon with this headless horseman at the gate. And then I was welcomed home by a confused looking pumpkin.

Despite the school holidays and no Toastie Thursday, we continue to pursue excellence in cheese and bread. Today we are in Bruntsfield for a Classic (ham and cheese) and an Easy Cheesey (three cheeses). Our verdict: a bit herby, a bit bready, a bit crumby but, as you can see, we ate the lot.

Many congratulations to Alistair and Kenzie who were married in the Old Parish today.

The community team from Craigmount High School came to enjoy a toastie at Toastie Thursday today, along with over 300 pupils. Funny how the headie and two teachers can make a hall empty so quickly. That takes some skill!

Harvest donations for the foodbank delivered, drinks and crisps for tomorrow's Toastie Thursday bought and brought home. My wee car is panting...

The Craigmount chaplaincy team dusted off our baking skills to produce this fine array of cakes and biscuits for the staff Bring a Bake day. Delicious, even if we do say so ourselves.

A lovely burst of colour in the churchyard this morning, bringing joy to passers by.

We were delighted to be joined by Sam and Dave from the polis at Toastie Thursday yesterday. And they more than earned their toasties by offering a warm welcome to pupils from Craigmount High. You are welcome any time, S&D!

Many thanks to Mrs Imrie and the staff at Maybury Primary for inviting us to a Maybury Magic coffee morning in the school. Lots of lovely parents and younger siblings came to blether over a cuppa and a cake. Looking forward to doing it again soon.

Toastie Thursday was back today after the school summer holidays. Sooo lovely to welcome loads of lovely, polite and good humoured pupils from Craigmount High. Always great to have the best toasties in town .

From the new to the old...Elaine leading a morning of play in the new houses at Maybury, and Carolyn Sutton's moving tribute to Beatrix (or Bette) Watson accused of witchcraft, who hanged herself in the church tower, now on display in the vestry.

An emotional and exciting p7 leavers service this morning. Not only are our p7s moving on to high school, but our headie, Mrs Whitford is retiring. Lots of love and best wishes to everyone on the next stage of their journey.

Miss Wood's class from Corstorphine primary are having a good look at the lantern on the side of the church wall, which also features on their school badge. After that we looked for skulls and crossbones adorning gravestones (which do not feature on the school badge!)

The last Toastie Thursday of this term today. Happy holidays to staff and pupils of Craigmount High. Particular good wishes to two of our volunteers, Shinji and Mami, as they return to Japan after a sabbatical in Scotland, with memories of irn bru and sporting our summer toasties t-shirts.

School chaplaincy part 3...great to welcome p3 from Gylemuir to visit the Old Parish today. Points to look our for - lanterns, skulls and crossbones, and a quick visit to the Kirk Session prison.

And this evening, as a parent and a chaplain , I'm enjoying the fun, frivolity, singing, dancing of the Craigmount High performing arts festival. I'm a bit biased in enjoying songs from Little Shop of Horrors, and the three hander How to Barely Pass Your Exams...

One of the many joys of being a school chaplain is being invited to the p7 show and seeing and hearing the talents, memories, hopes and plans of those moving up to high school. Well done to teachers and pupils at Corstorphine primary for a great afternoon. X
