Edith Wharton might not be at the top of anyone’s list when reading about resistance, but her novels were full of ways people thwarted the system. The actions might be small, but they show how even the most vulnerable had the ability to throw sand into the gears of oppression.
At the local pub tonight and the TV was tuned to the hockey game. The national anthem started and the pub went quiet. When the singer switched to the US anthem, chatter resumed. Small acts of patriotism are everywhere.

What people don’t seem to understand is that if the US successfully invades Canada, we will never be a state. A state gets federal responsibilities, representation, etc. They want to rape and pillage our lands with impunity.

Canada will become an occupied territory.

Visiting Nova Scotia and popped into a grocery store (I’m lame. I know). I saw lots of Made in Canada signs. Even more astonishing were the signs for Made in Nova Scotia. Those sections were EMPTY compared to their imported shelf mates. Keep it up!

The more I think about the state of things, the more I feel like Margaret Atwood was prescient.

1) Forced Births
2) Gut the Federal Gov.
3) Harden US/CA Border
4) Alienate Allies

We are one faux bombing away before Martial Law is declared. I hope the novel’s next steps stay in her fictional US.

They will go after Wikipedia.

They will go after libraries.

They will go after school boards and public extracurricular activities that are anything but sports.

They will go after archives.

Because knowledge, education, culture, and progressives are all the enemy.

Thinking is the enemy.

In today’s Glove & Mail, there was a tiny article about major US banks quietly quitting NZBA ahead of Trump coming to power (the NZAB was created to manage & disperse funding over the next 25 yrs to reach climate goals).

Threats of antitrust action killed it.

The fight for our future never ends.

Regulations exist for a very valid reason: it occurred as a response to and as a future prevention from, a tragedy.

Passing regulations takes time, public pressure>industry interests, and money. If a regulation is in place, take a minute to Google its origin story before nonchalantly axing it.

People that are posting about only wanting to hear from those still fighting & not licking their wounds mistake quiet for sadness & demoralization. The battle scared amongst us are preparing for the marathon that is asymmetrical warfare. This is not 2016-20 part deux. 2024-28 is going to be crueler.
