Went to a see Bryan Fuller’s Dust Bunny, his 1st feature and also directorial debut, which I thought could not be true but is. If you loved weird niche 80s children’s movies, or any Jeunet & Caro, you’re gonna adore this. Fuller back in whimsical, colorful Pushing Daisies mode.

It remains incredibly stupid that the Academy refuses to make Honorary Oscars part of the main ceremony. Tom Cruise got an Oscar and it wasn't broadcasted.

Rambling about Dead Reckoning again, the on location while traveling anecdote version. Left image for some words, right image for the visual depiction of what the inside of my brain felt like standing on this spot.

Leaving the theater after Sentimental Value, I overheard someone say “that should be illegal. What we just experienced should be illegal.” Guess it’s possible they were talking about something else entirely, but I’m pretty sure it was in reference to the Extreme Emotional Overwhelm. A++.

Pluribus premiere episode fucking ruled. His more recent and highly acclaimed series were a little less my speed (just a me thing) so very excited this one is more in the X Files-y lane.

Keep having that “I’ve forgotten something” feeling every three seconds at the airport (I checked a bag).

I loved Kathryn Bigelow's A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE, a film that a lot of people seem to be interpreting as a fantasy (read: propaganda) of American power and competence, when in fact it is the exact opposite of that. www.vulture.com/article/revi...

Just rewatched A House of Dynamite and it actually grew in esteem for me, and already loved my theatrical screening. Need to parse out some thoughts about the divisiveness. Also thinking there’s an expectation people are sitting down to watch a type of film this never quite fully intended to be.

Was kind of looking forward to the new IT TV show, but the premiere didn’t work at all for me. The cold open of the 1990 television miniseries was more effective in its in one singular minute of poor Laurie Ann on her tricycle than that entire ep, so being cheap and on TV is no excuse lmao.

Rewatched Notting Hill for the first time in centuries on a plane the other day and immediately turned around and watched it again at home tonight. Might rewatch every day in general why not. Top tier rom com, one of the best ones (maybe my favorite if I’m being honest).

As an old head vidder, cannot begin to express how many Thoughts I’m having over this article, which doesn’t make a passing reference to anything not TikTok re: “fan edits,” and also just the hiring fans to do marketing concept. I’ll mention one, though: LMAO LMAO LMAO. variety.com/2025/film/ne...
Why Lionsgate Hired TikTok Fan Editors to Market Movies
Hollywood studios like Lionsgate have started using fan edits on TikTok for official marketing campaigns.

In my second hotel on this trip and none of these TVs will let me turn off motion smoothing. This is unsustainable vacationing! (+ Also working remotely.)

The thought that cheered me after witnessing that game last night was that @sarahspain.com must be happy. 😆

Watched The Monkey (loved it, bonkers, preferred Perkins mode). So wildly different than The Life of Chuck but was struck by, in their King-ness, that both films argue to just dance in the face of The Horrors like your grandmother taught.

The amount of telecharge "we're sorry" emails for the "Oh, Mary!" lottery that I've received. Crushing.

haven’t watched in ages. all timer. need to catch a rep screening. editing had me yelling and was reminded just how A+ it is. the silence + sudden bursts of frenetic energy/zombie sounds. and it hits a lot different than it did yrs ago. Also, nice characters who also kiss in high stress situations!

this is a fun one (all the rankings people have are good regardless, but I particularly enjoy this one)
Last time I’m ever ranking these 👍

Sad news: Val Kilmer has died at 65. In the 1980s and 1990s--Top Secret, Heat, Tombstone, The Doors, really all the way through Kiss Kiss Bang Bang--he was so often an interesting and surprising studio leading man: An oddball with the face of a heartthrob. His best work is very worth revisiting.
