Watching this be proven in real time as result after result comes in is washing away so much of the ever present despair I’ve been feeling for months.
As ever... the vast, vast majority of people don't want the hellscape the right is forcing on us. they really are the minority viewpoint. vocal? yes. powerful? unfortunately, yes. But there are so many more people who don't want to live in the world they're trying to make.

I guess this has probably already gone viral somewhere but I am simply dying at this picture of a bear that looks like it hired a photographer to do a glamour shoot

Already seeing people excise the essential fact that trans existence was the inciting factor in the Texas A&M professor purge. Don't let them. Our lives are on the line and they want to make this solely about academic censorship.

We have a bit of a natural experiment here. Compare the tone, quantity and duration of Charlie Kirk coverage with that of the two Dem lawmakers gunned down in their homes in Minnesota 6 months ago. May be revealing.

I think it is important to anticipate the rhetoric - and quite possibly lies - coming from right-wing media no matter what the facts turn out to be. It will be anti-left, not anti-gun. It will assert that only right-wing speech is curtailed on campus.

I encourage everyone to look out for their safety and practice good internet hygiene, of course. But some of the scolding posts I've read suggest we can change the awful aftermath of a fateful event by just holding our tongues and being quiet little mice, and that isn't my experience.

Dear loves who are still showing up today, be so safe.
Governor Walz has recommended that we cancel No Kings events across Minnesota because the individual who assassinated a Democratic lawmaker is still at large. For the safety of all involved, we are cancelling events across the state that are not already underway.
Out of an abundance of caution my Department of Public Safety is recommending that people do not attend any political rallies today in Minnesota until the suspect is apprehended.

With the tragic assassination of a Minnesota Democratic leader, I’m going to underline this point again.
I know there's a lot going on, but the Secretary of Homeland Security declaring that federal troops are in California and Los Angeles to "liberate" the state and city from its duly-elected leaders really is a fourteen-alarm fire.
It's mind-blowing how little attention this extraordinary statement has received. It's briefly mentioned in a couple news articles, but this MSNBC opinion piece is the only extended discussion of it I've seen: www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...
