A bipartisan win for our ocean! 🎉

The bipartisan SOS 2.0 Amendments Act, which would reauthorize the @noaa.gov Marine Debris Program, passed unanimously in the House and Senate. ✅

This bill ensures critical work continues to combat plastic pollution before it reaches our ocean. 🌊

🌊California is wrapping up 2025 on a high note for the ocean! 🌊

On Jan. 1 of this year, California’s foam foodware (or expanded polystyrene) ban officially went into effect. Plastic foam contaminates recycling systems, harms wildlife and ultimately spells disaster for our ocean.
By eliminating avoidable waste, we reduce plastic pollution and create a cleaner, healthier future for our communities.

Producers must comply with the law or they will be held accountable.

That’s enough plastic to end the life of a seabird or a marine mammal. ⚠️

Don't be a fossil fool. Offshore drilling is dirty, dangerous and has devastating consequences for our ocean.

The Trump administration's proposal for the drastic expansion of drilling, including areas where oil and gas development has never taken place, is a recipe for disaster.

⚠️ #DYK that lost & abandoned fishing gear (AKA ghost gear) is the most harmful form of marine debris to wildlife?

Whether lost through entanglement on a rocky seafloor or an unexpected storm that blows fixed gear off course, ghost gear can continue to entangle wildlife even while no longer in use.
