Inflation in the past year was BELOW the RBA's target range in FIVE capital cities. And the only places it was above 2% were Brisbane and Perth, where the end of state-based energy rebates saw an abnormal jump in electricity prices.

This is incredibly disappointing to read!
This is very bad news - the ABS won't be releasing its Survey of Income and Housing.
This is the survey that gives us the best detail on inequality of both wealth and income and it means we won't get one till 2027.
The last one was in 2019-20 so it's already 5 years out of date

Hilariously, the AFR is showing just how absurd is the scare campaign against the super tax changes.
They give an eg where someone's super goes from $2m to $3.18m in a year!
Yep a $1.18m increase.
How much extra tax?
$1,528!
OMG!! THAT'S OUTRAG... err... oh actually that's bugger all

"Skilled workers".
What proportion of that 80k were 'born into', or 'fell into', or 'acquired by questionable means' the funds that put them in that position. I can't see us losing anyone that does any real work over this.
Oh no, CBA might not have a CFO 😱 How will my bank transfer go through?!

This is getting a bit sad now. AFR clutching at very thin straws
Reminder, currently 80,000 people are affected. One estimate is that just 3.5% of all people currently employed would be affected in the future (if the threshold doesn't change for 30 years)

Hi #rstats friends!
I'm starting consulting! I've had a great journey in academia working with brilliant people, and while it's bittersweet (and a bit scary!), I'm excited for this next step. I'll still be maintaining {greta} and am hoping to be even more involved with the R community.

How good are graphs!
This is from my BBQ, smoking a brisket on Friday night.
Red - set pit temp
Orange - brisket flat
Green - brisket point
The "stall" is so well shown here, as the rate of temp climbing slows to zero in the flat (circled). Then the entire brisket is wrapped and put back in /1

Yes inflation is falling. But it isn't zero.
Falling inflation is not falling prices, (nominal) prices are still increasing, just not as fast. We are still cost of living crisising. CRISISING.
I need a @grogsgamut.bsky.social article, stat!
