Respair

Means 'fresh hope' or 'a recovery from despair'

Definitely one to hold on to

I started a Substack newsletter, reporting on co-thinking with my permaculture garden and community in an attempt at counter-extractivist academic practice in super-extractivist institutional academia. Would love to see you read, comment, share. open.substack.com/pub/annanach...

Had a great pleasure to perform my compositions based on field recordings of water - w\2 other field recording acts. 90 min of very attentive listening from quite an audience of approx. 30 people was simply a healing and soothing experience. We all need to listen more.

It was a remarkable event, even though Solidarity movement turned out to be pretty conservative and eventually paved the way for right-wing populism in Poland.
#OtD 27 Mar 1981 a four-hour 'warning strike' by the Solidarity union took place in Poland. It involved between 10-12 million people, and was the biggest strike in the Soviet bloc stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/7...

Somehow, almost everything that is being published about Trump & Musk takeover of the U.S. feels highly redundant from European perspective. Is it authoritarianism and a lethal threat to democracy? For sure. Did we know it would happen? Of course. Now, what are you gonna do about it?

The U.S. had everything from an economic standpoint—a technological edge in key industries, the most attractive investment environment for capital, and the ability to attract top talent from around the world.

And now, they’re about to lose all of that for absolutely nothing in return.

"The stance of the Trump administration only exacerbates the growing recognition that allowing US companies to dominate the internet economy across much of the world was a terrible mistake."
As the United States launches an imperialist trade war against Canada and Mexico, it’s time for countries to come together to form an alliance against the US — and that includes rapidly curtailing their dependence on Silicon Valley.

The US can’t be allowed to get away with this.
