I think this will be cool satellite! A brand new higher-order network dataset and networks science friends...going to be hyperedgy 👀
dear hypergraph enthusiasts,
I am thinking about applying to do a satellite hackathon at @netsciconf.bsky.social focusing on our Bluesky starter pack dataset! if you work with higher-order networks and would be interested in giving a brief methods talk at this hypothetical session, please reach out!
I loved working with this team, and I hope you'll use our dataset!! Check out the talk that @diesagar.bsky.social will be giving at the Software and Data for Supporting Network Science Workshop @netscience.bsky.social. It's going to be lit!!!

Flexible Spending Accounts are hot garbage and anyone who suggests them as a solution to anything should be slapped immediately.

"Guess how much care you need! Hope you got it right! The insurance company everything left at the end of the year!" Just raking in profit, as if they needed more.

Anyone have any suggestions for a free online course (YouTube, etc.) that (1) introduces Python at an intro level and (2) is not too time intensive (<20hrs)? (Especially for students going from R -> Python!) The end goal would to do network analysis with NetworkX and understand what is going on.

This was fun to write with @lhd.bsky.social and I've never written a piece combining ontology ("what are groups?") and software ("how can we operationalize these abstract concepts?")! We hope you'll check it out!

We wrote a little something! @nwlandry.bsky.social and I talk about how new software to study networks with groups (like @xgi.bsky.social !) can help interdisciplinary collaborations tackle old questions from social ontology and the science of groups.

Happy official #Pithon day to us all!

It's got template strings, new interpreter options, some better error messages, and more! Big congrats to @hugovk.dev and all the #Python contributors that made this possible!

I thought of a funny(?) joke that won't be relevant until the fall 2025 #Python release. I'm gonna post it now because I bet we'll see a lot of this joke then and i want to make sure I get it in first...

I got tired of mashing together tools to write long threads with 𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 and ℳα†ℏ—so I wrote La𝑇𝑤𝑒𝑒𝑡!

It converts Markdown and LaTeX to Unicode that can be used in “tweets”, and automatically splits long threads. Try it out!

Teaching questions based on a wild first few weeks: (1) any tips for introducing Python to students with a wide range of coding skills in a network science class? Although it's clear that a 1 hour weekly lab is not enough time to learn a new coding language, I don't want to eat up all of class time.
