Visual artist, educator, writer, occasional banjo player. Rejects the word "content" when describing art, but also trying to remember that it can mean being fulfilled.
Mostly just here for the Nancy and Gus Arriola comics.

If you're like me and wish Bsky was a bit more image-based than text, @flashes.blue is a fantastic client. 30 second sign up with your exiting bsky account, and you get your regular feed but the focus can now be on art and images. (and @nancycomics.bsky.social fit better than in the regular app.)

As I seem to share every winter time, here is my essay on Thomas Kinkade, The #PainterofLight. It is #christmas themed after all, and almost a decade old.

I've currently got 3 bids in on Kinkade prints at local estate sales. Perhaps I'll win one. #artreview #contemporaryart #oilpainting #art

The absolute best thing about this 1966 Harmony tenor is that after a minute of playing, this amazing smell of old books and age comes emanating from the sound holes.
The vibrations must be breaking up the age locked inside, and I'm scared for the day that it gets all used up. #vintage #guitar

Current work: doing some pieces using a pair of vintage shears. This is a pencil drawing and a charcoal/ink drawing, each done on vellum then cut up and woven together.

After a number of years not drawing digitally, I have picked up an iPad Pro.
Here is a 30 minute drawing of my dog to test inking in Procreate. So far it is a very dangerous tool, as it makes you much better than you actually are. #art #digitalart #procreate #tripawd
