Formed in 1914, the golf course at Newtonstewart Golf Club is laid out across the rolling terrain of the estate of Baronscourt in County Tyrone. Starting off with 9 holes, the course was extended to 18 holes in the 1970s by Frank Pennik

Some renderings of potential changes to The European Club, which will now be knows as Brittas Bay Club. Kyle Phillips to implement the changes. Appears to be an overhaul of the sleeper faced bunkers along with some new green sites. Aiming for a Spring 2027 reopening

Nestled close to Ireland's east coast is Greystones Golf Club, with a history dating back to 1895. The club started with 9 holes, and was extended to 18 in 1914. The club history states that the prominent golf course architect H.S Colt, #TheGreatMan, visited in January of 1920

An Irish inland golf course with robust turf that allows for year round play is The Heath GC in Co. Laois. The club, formerly known as The Queen's County Heath GC, dates to 1889.

With holes perched along the picturesque Cork Harbour, and others routed through and over an old quarry, splendid views and captivating golf await the golfer when he/she visits Cork GC.
The club was founded in 1888 and moved to its present site on Little Island in 1897.

When discussing the finest 9 hole golf courses in Ireland, a course deserving of its place in the conversation is Ashford Castle out west in Co. Mayo. The course was designed by the great Eddie Hackett and this par 35 comes in at just under 3,000 yards.

Hard to imagine there's a golf course in Ireland, links excluded, that's in better condition than Royal Curragh GC for March. Supreme inland golfing terrain. Great to see some more tree removal taking place. Keep going and make it look more like a Curragh Plains golf course should look!

Ireland’s golf courses are fortunate to have had input from some golden age greats. Messrs Colt, Braid, MacKenzie and Allison have all touched courses across the island. But, it is to the delightful duo of Tom Simpson and Molly Gourlay that we must thank for Kilkenny GC.

An aerial view of Dún Laoghaire GC from the 1960s. The course was designed by Harry Colt in 1910. The club moved location in 2007 which means that housing now rests on The Great Man's work.

A fine place for a game is one of Ireland's finest inland 9 hole courses, Blessington Lakes GC. You're guaranteed spectacular views stretching across the Blessington Lakes to the Wicklow mountains. The club, known as Boystown GC until 2009, began in 1998 on the land of Donie McEvoy.

Beginning in 1899 as Leinster Golf Club, Carlow GC's first course was 9 holes at Gotham, Co. Kildare. The club moved to its current location of Deerpark in 1922, with Cecil Barcroft on design duties. In 1937, the wonderful pair of Tom Simpson and Molly Gourly visited.

Established in 1893, Birr Golf Club's course is routed through eskers and rolling woodland, providing a splendid canvass for interesting golf. The club moved to its current location of The Glens, located to the north of the town, in 1909. It's a great year round golf course.

The magnificent Mountrath Golf Club in Laois began with 9 holes in 1929. Affiliation to the Golfing Union of Ireland came in 1932. The course became a full 18 hole golf course with the addition of 9 new holes which opened in 1994. This 6,271 yard Par 71 course requires accuracy and patience.
