the impression i have is that artists with huge followings aren't having too much trouble rebuilding on bsky, but small artists are having just as much trouble as on twitter

i really urge people to retweet art. this sucks massively and im sad people need to start from scratch

I click hashtags of my fave things and I still see small artists struggling to get reaches.

I'm calling for small artists supporting each other to make this work.

So, my grandmother needs your help. What happened? Around September 6th of 2024, my 91 year old grandmother was hospitalized because of an infected wound on her face that went into sepsis. I ended up footing the bill for this despite my status as an unemployed university student and lost a good chunk of my life savings in the process. Unfortunately, even if she recovered from the sepsis, the doctors believe she caught pneumonia from the hospital during her stay. She came home on September 13th but had to return to the hospital on September 19th because of lung complications. She was discharged again during September 24th and we thought she was on her way to recovery but on October 18th, her blood oxygen levels began to drop again and she was brought back to the hospital where she’s still staying to this day. Since then, a mountain of bills have piled up— medical and non-medical included. It’s starting to become increasingly difficult to keep up with them the longer that she stays in the hospital. So, my grandmother needs your help. Who’s asking? I’m Skai, an artist and a VN dev. Usually, I would prefer to open emergency commissions and not disclose too many details about the situation beyond a quick summary of it. This time, though, I’ve come to accept the reality that time is not on my side and I can’t juggle commissions and promotion with the work that I have to do for my majors in university on top of being the sole caretaker of another disabled elderly person in my home. I had to pick a lane, social media or my degree, and I obviously had to choose my degree. This is why I’ve finally decided to ask for donations to hopefully help us through these trying times. So, my grandmother needs your help. How to help? Even just sharing this around is a big thing if you don’t have money to spare but if you do, you can donate to my ko-fi page. I’ll provide a link. I would have made a GoFundMe but I just recently found out that they don’t support it in my country. Anyway, we learn to make do. Another way to show support is to go to my itch.io page and name your own price if you decide to download some of my visual novels. My commissions are also technically open but I can’t work on them until my semester ends. The details of which are on my carrd site. I do sprite art, character design, GUI Design, and writing work. Kiwi Farms is trying to get a toxic foothold on bsky to target trans accts.

Their one move: copy/create blocklists w/actual trashbags & Nazis then add (innocent, unsuspecting, non-trashbag) trans accts.

DO not use blocklists unless well-sourced!

This is the next phase that Kiwi Farms members have stated they will do - constructing look-alike blocklists and then adding popular trans people to them after the fact, once the blocklist is seeded in the community. Make sure any block list you use says who runs it.
