With 2025 coming to a close today, this goes down as my favorite #Canes goal of the year.

I debated Sebastian Aho's double overtime series-cliching winner against New Jersey, but this one still amazes me on so many levels.

What's your pick? 👀

Rod Brind'Amour used the words "flat" and "lackluster" post-game.

"It was not a good effort, that's clear."

The final horn sounds and the #Canes fall in Pittsburgh, 5-1.

Rod Brind'Amour's group moves to 24-12-3.

Back at it at home on Thursday night against Montreal for the first game of 2026.

40 minutes down, 20 (or more) to go. 5-1, Penguins.

Well, the #Canes haven't been shut out yet this season, and they won't be tonight. 🤷‍♂️

Joel Nystrom picks up his third assist in his last five games, setting up Mark Jankowski.

Good shot from #77.

Great pass from Joel Nystrom.

That's Jankowski's first goal since Nov. 17.

Tommy Novak fits a shot past a screen and in.

Done with 20 minutes. 3-0, Penguins.

It was a turnover by the #Canes in their own end, a "breather" that allowed Pittsburgh to capitalize after a stretch pass, and a strike from the Eastern Conference's best power play.
December 31, 2025 at 1:05 AM
Make it 3-0, Pittsburgh.

Anthony Mantha puts back a rebound on the power play with 2:48 left in the opening period.
December 31, 2025 at 1:05 AM
2-0, Penguins.

A stretch pass gets to Justin Brazeau, and he puts home a highlight reel finish.

3:53 left in the first.

K'Andre Miller has had a tough start to his night, but he's trying to turn the tide with physicality.

He stapled Rickard Rakell moments ago.
December 31, 2025 at 12:41 AM
Pittsburgh opens the scoring just 3:46 in.

The #Canes turned the puck over behind their own net, and a second later, Sidney Crosby made them pay.

Brandon Bussi is now 13-1-1 in his first 15 NHL appearances.

"He's been great. He keeps giving us a chance to win hockey games. That's all you can ask from a goalie. It's been a great ride... He's been really calm and collected in the big moments," Sebastian Aho said post-game.
December 30, 2025 at 4:00 AM
W!

The #Canes open a big Metro back-to-back with a win at home over the Rangers, 3-2.

Sebastian Aho (1G, 1A) and Nikolaj Ehlers (2A) both had multiple points, and Jackson Blake finished it in OT.

Brandon Bussi moves to 13-1-1, stopping 17/19.
December 30, 2025 at 3:19 AM
Jackson Blake's first overtime winner as an NHLer 💪
December 30, 2025 at 3:18 AM
Hanging out in front, he gets a stick on Sebastian Aho's shot to secure the victory.

A big two points for Rod Brind'Amour's group.
December 30, 2025 at 2:58 AM
Jackson Blake, overtiiiiiime winner!

December 30, 2025 at 2:58 AM
With the #Canes and Rangers still tied at 2-2, we're headed to overtime in Raleigh.
