No. Thanks for sneak peak into precious nursing archive and forward thinking about access.
Did you know our nursing history collection holds nearly 5,000 pamphlets - many over 100 years old?

We are working to make them easier to access for members and researchers by:

🔍 Improving search records
📜 Checking each pamphlet’s condition

Yes, we're working together in Nottinghamshire to reduce the discoverability gap, by researching and showcasing the contributions of nurses, most of whom are women, on our website - link in the profile. Enjoy.

Remember the 1970s? Does 'the fight' for the NHS resonate today?
The NHS is built on a simple and powerful principle: healthcare should be free at the point of use. But that principle has often had to be fought for.

In the 1850s, Mary Barrett acted as a nurse to children of Lady Cork, 5th Duke of Portland’s cousin living at Cuckney House.

Putting a spot light on the contributions of Irish nurses to the National Health Service:
Shortly after the NHS was created in 1948, it led to a recruitment campaign to attract Irish students to train and work as nurses. By 1971, they made up around 12% of all nursing staff in the NHS.

Explore the stories of some of those nurses in our magazine feature ⬇️

Historical research: ace sleuthing about Newstead, describing the intricacies of knowledge creation.
I have the suspicion that writing this thread will make the work itself visible to me as well as forming an example of what research looks like.

This week I gave a 20 minute paper on 'Curating Legacies at Newstead: Thomas Wildman's Impact on Byron's Legacy'
