Doorsoun is an experienced pro & international player, & she’s defended v skilled players for a long time, & Manaka simply ate her up. This may be tough sledding for Angel City today.

75th min, Angel City is tied 1-1 at home against a team near the bottom of the table. They only have 3 available forwards, but a wingback is still playing forward, while Christen Press still languishes on the bench. Zero urgency. No ambition to actually win matches. I’m so tired.

Rewatched the Angel City match, & it’s amazing how much more dynamic & fluid the attack looked after Press & Zelem entered in the 73rd & 68th min respectively. Both chance creation & xG went up.

Only one (1!) Angel City player was in a + position to receive passes on Saturday night. Indeed, ACFC was the worst performing NWSL team this weekend by that metric. Sam Laity had a measurably negative impact on the team during his tenure. Straus has serious work to do.

Being an elite athlete can be so isolating, and I was very struck by the way sisterhood permeates the way Thompson talks about everything — including the mentorship she's received from Christen Press after last year's Olympic disappointment.

BMO went absolutely bonkers Friday night. Such collective joy & jubilation. Would’ve been a crime to not win GOTW.
Glad I flew in to watch a CP23 goal. Spectacular to watch in person, & the rest of her shift showed how impactful she can be both on & off ball in attack. She needs more minutes. Savy situation pretty traumatic in the stadium. Sorta reminded me of how I felt watching Frida Maanum last yr.
