Never forget that Democrats are the ones who tee'd this up. Every faculty member that did not condemn the persecution of students on their campus, the presence of police, you facilitated this. And we will never forget it.

6/6 I had the best time teaching a wonderful group of students. Never underestimate how much you will learn from your students! Looking forward to the next semester.

6/7 I'm not a very formal person, and the fact that the students and I can laugh together during lectures makes everyone relax more. Note! This should be combined with being clear and a little strict if necessary.

5/7 I found it challenging to suddenly take on a role of academic authority, just few years after finishing my MA degree. For the students, on the other hand, my impression is that it's helpful to have a teacher who knows more than enough to teach, but also remembers what it's like to be a student.

4/7 Not everyone will make it on the first attempt, and there is only so much you, as a lecturer, can do about it.

3/7 As teachers, we were often well-performing students ourselves. Having been worried about mastering quantitative methods myself as a student was super useful to bring into the teaching. However, my experience of being a BA student is not necessarily representative.

2/7 Trying to get through everything just obscures the most important points. Again, not so easy to avoid.

1/7 Speak. Way. Slower. Than. What. Comes. Naturally. To. You. I still struggle with this one. Luckily, my students are comfortable enough to let me know.

I just finished my first semester as a full-time lecturer. It’s been great, and I wanted to share some of the things I learned along the way:

Merry Christmas, Christians. This is the front page of the Norwegian Christian (usually fairly Conservative) newspaper Vårt Land («Our Country») this week. Made by Christian Bloom. Thank you 💔
