Senior Lecturer, Essex Law School, researching fundamental (social) rights and their relationship to economic freedoms. Currently working as part of the EU-CIEMBLY project on intersectionality in citizens' assemblies: https://www.eu-ciembly.eu/en/home

Excited to get my hands on the first print copies of my recently published book, which examines the constitutional and social dimensions of the freedom to conduct a business in EU law, which I argue can and should be reconceptualised in (fundamental) social rights terms.
Spent a lovely day in a very sunny Graz presenting the @eu-ciembly.bsky.social project's normative, analytical, and operational dimensions for incorporating intersectionality into the design of citizens' assemblies. Many thanks to the organisers of the Facing Inequalities conference for hosting!

On 3rd October, the @universityofessex.bsky.social team took part in Freshers’ Fair, welcoming new and returning students to the Colchester campus. We asked: What does intersectionality or equality mean to you? The responses reflected a rich diversity and highlighted how vital these concepts are.

How many EDI roles are there in the civil service?

Cabinet Office data released yesterday (from a review commissioned by the previous govt) tells us - about 350 (FTE) between July 2022 and July 2023.

Or the equivalent of ~0.07% of the whole civil service over that period.
