🗞️ Child poverty is back in the headlines.

Our new piece argues that tackling it for good and making sure progress is not undone by a future government means more than just policy fixes, it requires a rights-based framework that can’t be rolled back.
If Labour is serious about ending child poverty, rights must be the foundation | Just Fair
This article was orginally published in Labour List. When Rachel Reeves defended the Labour Government’s decision to scrap the two-child limit, she was clear about the stakes. “We’ve got to make sure that no party ever feels that they can get away with reversing this policy,” she said. She’s right. The question is how. The […]

🛏️ Housing people seeking asylum in military barracks isn’t a solution, it’s a repeat of a failed policy.

Our new piece with @hrw.org lays out why this new plan undermines the rights to housing & health.

Rights-respecting solutions exist; ministers should choose them.
Why housing people seeking asylum at Crowborough is a dangerous mistake | Just Fair
This was orginally published in the Big Issue. This week, people who fled war and persecution will be housed on a former military base at Crowborough Training Camp in East Sussex. The government calls it a solution. In reality, it is the revival of a policy that has already failed, with consequences ministers were warned […]

🎒 The UK Government is not supportive of a new proposed UN treaty that would support pre-primary education for kids globally.

The UK needs to change its position and support these fundamental rights for all kids.

📊 A new report from @jrf-uk.bsky.social lays bare the state of poverty in the UK in 2026.

Rising costs, insecure housing and weak social security pushing millions into hardship.

We need to redesign systems with rights built in so everyone can live with dignity.

It is also a violation of human rights. The right to housing means homes that are suitable, safe and dignified.

The children living in temporary accommodation deserve an enshrined right to housing in the UK.
Temporary accommodation is harmful to all children, but if you are neurodivergent, it can be overwhelming, unsafe and have lasting effects.

Noise, overcrowding, constant moves, no routine, no quiet space. Children deserve better.

🧒 The new Child Poverty Strategy is a welcome shift — lifting 550,000 children out of poverty matters.

But child poverty is a human rights issue, not just an economic one. Without grounding the strategy in children’s rights, progress remains fragile.

The Child Poverty Strategy: a welcome step, but rights must be the foundation | Just Fair
The UK Government’s new Child Poverty Strategy, released at the end of 2025, marks a long-awaited shift in approach. After years of rising child poverty, the commitment to lift an estimated 550,000 children out of poverty by 2030, alongside wider support for 7.1 million children, represents one of the most significant policy interventions in over […]

🍲 Wales has already shown it can lead on embedding human rights in law.

As Senedd member, Adam Price MS sets out, the right to food is recognised in international law – and the key levers are devolved. A right to food in Wales is both possible and necessary.

🏚️ Blaming migrants for the housing crisis is a dangerous distraction. Migrants are not the cause of unaffordable, insecure housing, they are among those hardest hit.

The right to housing means tackling policy failure and unfair power, not scapegoating communities.
Stop Scapegoating Migrants
Reform is manipulating its supporters to believe that migrants are to blame for Britain’s housing crisis. In reality, the party’s far-right policies will only benefit those responsible for people's inadequate living conditions: landlords and the state.

At Just Fair, we often speak of human rights not only as legal protections, but as tools for justice and principles that can shape the way we live, communicate, and rebuild the world around us. 💰 Extreme wealth concentration isn’t just an economic issue, it’s a human rights one.

When a handful of billionaires shape decisions, people are locked out of power over housing, health, food and social security. Democracy can’t survive rule by the richest.
3K billionaires control $18.3 trillion, and this concentration of wealth is reshaping democracy itself. Billionaire money changes who gets heard, who decides, and who gets left behind.
