SFFD has created a "hoarding task force" to identify the fire hazards and get them cleared out before bad things happen.
“We found that a lot of our fires in 2025 were caused by two things.

"One was hoarding, and the other was lithium-ion batteries stored in people’s units,” Fire Chief Crispen said. www.tlvoice.org/fire-prevent...

A sobering (“RESET”) center opens in April, and new legislation would require lithium-ion batteries sold in SF to meet higher safety standards.
