Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance.

Democracy requires your courage.

At the moment, mansion-sized Asteroid 2024-YR4 has a one-in-fifty chance of hitting Earth in the next eight years.

Now might be a bad time to reduce spending on Science. Just sayin’.

Please remember that this administration is not “the government.” They are not governing. The government is not the bad guy. Trump and the oligarchs are the bad guys. They are dismantling “the government.”

Today’s show was my last at CNN. My closing message: It’s never a good time to bow down to a tyrant… don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to fear. Hold on to the truth… and hope.

a thing I really enjoyed about the northern lights beyond seeing them for the first time was explaining to my kids how the earth is shrouded by an invisible field powered by an unfathomable moon sized engine made of liquid iron churning in the heart of the planet. I sound like a complete maniac

i was once telling the guy opening my bag that i know it's weird but i had a good reason for the large container of salt, and he said "don't worry, that's not that weird."

me: what kinds of things *are* weird?

him: one time i opened up a carry-on and it was full of lobsters. live lobsters.

The science behind how thick a plate of stainless steel needs to be stop a 9mm round has been settled for over 100 years. Reporters could’ve fact checked this the moment Musk made the claim.

If 2mm of metal could stop a bullet, WW2 would’ve been fought in plate armor.

Day 10. #poetry

I fell in love
again. It happened
next to the burn of
a fresh cuppa and
I lost it sometime
before the sour cold dregs
flooded my mind. Mourners
usually cry but I spent mine
on the boy who tried to
pursue me before I had
any value. I wonder
if he is still on
do not disturb.
Day 8. #poetry

A stiff burn, sometimes
the crack of a tense muscle,
is plenty reminder
that exercise is
a commitment paid
in agonizing seconds
stretching, ideally,
into months
of habitual
motion.

The body wants to move.
The brain wants to sleep.
An impass
sometimes placated
with cute little lies.
Day 7. #poetry

Cotton fluff words flit
away from the gentlest reach
and pry
and then
it's an awkward silence
between umm
and wait a sec.

There was an idea, I promise,
on the tip of my tongue like
the residue of cheap chocolate
all I can taste
even water
won't take it away.
