Hit the baby section of my flight. Mom with almost-6-mo-old in the middle seat next to me, different mom across the aisle with one toddler, dad I the row ahead of me with the other toddler—older of this pair is 2.5.

Let’s blame some of the airport terminal time on TSA, as there was one guy doing Precheck and Clear, and 3 doing regular. It would have been faster to skip the Precheck line. If only I’d known…

The Miami airport, specifically Delta’s operations, do not impress. Self bag tag was fine except the drop-off line took about an hour. Lessee, my Lyft dropoff was 1:20, I made it through security at 2:30.

Last meal in Miami was at Cafe Bastille, and eggs Benedict variation and a crème brûlée croissant cube. The Benedict was good, wouldn’t repeat the croissant which was served warm when I’d have liked that pastry cream chilled. I won’t need food again for a while 🤣

Now I’m going to draw another hot bath and pamper my feet and legs!

Bowl at Naked Farmer: pecan kale salad, mac and cheese, roasted broccoli, steak, and a vinaigrette. Didn’t need the vinaigrette with the dressing on the kale salad, really. All well done, really good meal.

Brief stop at hotel room to wash my face and reduce the stuff I’d been hauling like power packs, then went to a spot called Naked Farmer for dinner. Sort of a build a bowl place with better options than I’d seen elsewhere (though I’m not an expert).

I bypassed a packed train, then got on one and snagged one of the 4 seats and did a circuit and a half of the inner loop. Transferred to the Omni loop and rode that up and back, then got off at Bayfront Park about 5:40. Made one more pass for any research I’d missed, then it was 6 and all done.

Then it was time for the last push for another shiny Mudbray, and any shiny Baile Oricorio. I’d maxed out on getting eggs out of gifts so that left wild catches and field research. Made another loop of Bayfront Park then about 4 decided to get on the Metromover.

Headed for the lobby Starbucks and a supersized iced tea, plus potato chips for the salt. 😅 I chilled (literally) for maybe 45 min, then went to the park and did a few GMax Snorlax raids. No strong desire there as I got good ones and shinies in April.

Rest of the day: long hot walk retracing our steps to the hotel and park, unshaded sidewalks for the most part. I have a bit of sunburn on my face—didn’t bring along the sunscreen to reapply, but in truth the initial application plus a hat usually handle it.

Community Ambassador planned a good break stop at a large Starbucks so hydration and rest rooms available.

Limited impressions of Little Havana is on the edge of rough with a heavy tourist overlay of street vendors, tour group, hop-on bus, etc. And the locals trying to get Sunday breakfast at a local cafe.

City Safari day 2, Adam and Abel are doing their own thing so I’m with the large group. Trekked through Brickell and now to Little Havana, started out overcast but now is sunny and 78F

Breakfast at Crema, a block from the hotel. Open-faced breakfast sandwich
December 14, 2025 at 1:28 PM
Walked the 2 blocks back to my hotel and took advantage of the tub to have a hot soaking bath to ease the leg muscles.

I traded an older Pikachu in a costume, shiny, to one of the Seattle group, for a shiny Mudbray. Food was very good, I had shrimp and pork dumplings and a mushroom-veggie ramen with a jammy egg. The place is Dumplings Mi Amor

Gameplay ended at 6 and after another briefer stop at my room I found a tiny restaurant serving dumplings, ramen, katsu, and the like. Of the 5 tables, 3 were folks playing Pokemon GO—me, 2 guys from LA, and 4 guys from Seattle.

After doing some trades with Adam, he and his friend Abel headed out and I took a break in my room to chill and charge all my devices. Then I went back to the grind—around the park again then along the river walk, then caught the Metromover back to the hotel to save my feet

We stuck to the Bayfront Park area and a few blocks into the business district until just before lunch when we crossed a bridge into Brickell to do 2 more “stamp stops”—the event-specific Eevee in a safari hat is obtained by “stamping” at up to 8 Pokestops a day, one Pikachu per stamp

Started out with a very large group organized by a very efficient local Community Ambassador who got us out of towners oriented. Beyond that, the event is basically catching pokemon and hatching eggs, so the group I think split into many smaller parts.

I had a good time, though not a lot of luck catching the shinies. I met up with Adam who I know through a discord focused on the game Pikmin Bloom—he came down from Jacksonville with another friend. We stuck together until early afternoon, then they went to join others for lunch

Per usual, I got busy and quit on the travelogue! It’s Saturday evening after day 1 of the City Safari. Weather was great in the morning with a strong breeze, partly cloudy, and low 70s F, then got overcast which was perhaps better. High was close to 80. Rain possible tomorrow

It took me a while to find Sanguich, which it turns out is a food stall with a few dedicated tables on the marina side of the Marketplace. Apple Maps had the wrong spot Google was better but didn’t spot it on the correct side of the building. In between bars as noted before. Good Cuban, though!
