I really like this platform!! It’s more made for having multiple drafts for a single project and for the fanfic writers, a direct to Ao3 format to post directly. I’ve been using it for a little bit and have switched from word to this just cause I don’t have to pay to access my work on other devices!

Tips: moving from Xitter to Bsky Before you start following people, fill out your profile! Bio, PFP, banner, and post at least 5 to 10 things. Just reuse your top 10 banger tweets—recycling is encouraged! This way, people will know you aren’t a bot, will see what you are about, and might follow back. Turn off NSFW filters in Settings > Moderation > Enable Adult Contentand at the bottom on Settings > Moderation > Bluesky Mod Service Find your friends from the hellsite using Sky-Follower-Bridge.devNot perfect, but it will find the majority of the people you were following.Beware of fake tools that ask for money! Follow a few feeds related to your interests. In bsky you choose what kind of content you want to see. You can pin feeds (into tabs) to the top of your timeline, and you always have access to the Following feed which shows nothing but who you choose to follow. Block often. Don’t interact with trolls. Don’t quote dunk, comment, nothing. Let them rot in silence, take away their oxygen and they’ll asphixiate. This is the Bsky way. Turn off language filters in Settings > Languages > Content Languages Or you won’t see posts from anyone in Japan, Germany, etc, in your feeds, even if they only post a cool image with no text. Weird, but trust me on this one. Uncheck all to see all posts. Fuck content scrapers. Do not let that trash overwhelm this site, do not share their stolen content. You can block them all with two clicks by going to joabaldwin.com/scrapers and on the top-right clicking on Subscribe > Block Accounts (I know, “Subscribe” is an odd thing to name it, but that’s how block lists work). Use alt text to make images accessible. Helps for translations, readability, findability, and users with slow internet. Turn on Settings > Accessibility > Require alt text before posting It takes time to rebuild, but the best time to do it is right now. Use your last tweets to tell everyone to move, then stop posting. Twitter is a Nazi/AI/bot/crypto cesspit.

That day job paid for all of my rent, plus most of my expenses. The severance I got will cover most of my rent + expenses for one month, but that's it. And it's a very difficult time to be looking for a job right now (my last big job hunt took almost three months for a minimum wage position). My family has offered to lend me a hand for expenses if I need it, and I'm going to be looking into options like EI and art grants to keep me afloat, but other then that, my monthly income is now almost entirely dependent on my artwork. And it's obviously a very difficult time to be trying to make a living as an independent artist right now." I know it's a pretty rough time (understatement) for a lot of folks right now, but if you're able to give some money to help me out while I'm trying to get through this rut, it'd be greatly appreciated. 1. I have a monthly ko-fi membership (Tip Jar) where you can get occasional private WIP updates for as low as 4$ CAD (about 3$ USD) per month! This is great if you don't have the change for a commission or shop items/shipping but want to pitch in a little bit to me! 2. I have an online shop on the same ko-fi! It has stickers, prints, pins, and keychains of my formline art. US shipping is available and prepaid duties (tariffs, derogatory) are factored into the applicable product shipping cost. Great if you're looking for stocking stuffers this holiday season! 3. I take custom commissions for formline art from time to time! The reason I list this last is because comms take the most physical and mental strain of all these options, and the last thing I want to do is burn myself out when I'm already struggling. To help make ends meet I sell treats and cook meals for hire. I love being in the kitchen and making food with love! In my spare time, I founded my own community group. I host free dinners and social events out of my home to unite queer and accepting people and foster connection in my local area. I travel to LGBTQ+ events and distribute resource information for those in need, and educational zines I self-publish with information about mental health, communication, and wellness. In 2025 I have given out over 300 zines, provided hundreds of meals for my community, and brought people together to support each other now when it matters the most. I hope to double this in 2026, if I can. 2025 has been devastating to so many people for so many reasons. Besides those affecting every queer Texan I have also faced repeated auto repairs, fraudulent housing charges, denied government assistance, and mental health breakdowns. I have sold all my belongings of sentimental value in order to survive this long.
