I have waxed two more pieces inspired by @cydethan.bsky.social 's Bad Sector.
They are
"Fall Without Fear"
And
"BOOM, BOOM, BOOM"
To understand them and their titles you'll have to read the book...which you can find pinned on my feed.

The Lapwing Stars by Tom Hirons.
It was published in Falconer's Joy in 2018 (sadly now out of print but he's hoping to get a new edition out next year).
One of my favourite poets.
Check out his Sometimes A Wild God if you don't know his work and want a punch in the heart.

I mean they'd believe it, post to encourage them or not, honestly, but good Debunking here.
It blows my mind that there are real people who see a post like this and actually believe the whole “Christmas is being cancelled by Muslims” BS 🙄

Let’s have a quick look at what’s happening to Sheffield so you can put your Express reading uncle’s mind at ease!😆

I've been thinking a lot about Red Riding Hood, menopause, the 3 women and the wolf recently.
I won't put all my thought about here - I already made Cy listen to them.
But I did paint "The Wolf Who Cried Girl" about it.

I have watched Frankenstein by Guillermo Del Toro and it is beautiful.
I am off too sweep gothically about some ruins in a storm with a candelabra and a long dress.

Today's adventures in synaesthesia.
Couldn't remember the word chartreuse for about 2 hours because that is a DUSTY BROWNISH PINK word that tastes like roasting chestnuts!
As if the shade of green it is didn't make me feel naturally ill the dissonance between the word & the colour gives me vertigo.

This is exactly it.
I hate it so much when someone does this in a game.
If you don't want the high pitched emotional drama then go find another table.
I used to call it 'bathos' when players would undercut tension, fear, or thematic worldbuilding in my #TTRPG sessions with absurd jokes/references. Then I heard Matt Mercer refer to the effect perfectly as: 'slapdickery'

It's too self evident, too tonally appropriate. It haunts me.

Did medieval peasants have more free time than you? No way! Think of all the eels they had to catch & prepare!

In 1290, villagers in Ramsey were responsible for taxes on 365,000 eels per year. 365k!

That takes a lot of time. Time *you* use in messing about on Twitter! 1/3

When Morgan got back everything she wanted and lost everything that mattered.
She learned that you can while you can refract your fate you can't escape it. Just because she bent reality so her heart wasn't punched out by a monster it still got ripped out by a friend.
Real actual tears.

A question for your Friday.

What's a character moment you're most proud of from a TTRPG game?

Something you keep thinking about, a heroic moment, a left field choice, a sacrifice. I'd love to know.

It's Chippiversary!
Neither @cydethan.bsky.social or I knew on this day 33 years ago that when the sun went down our lives would change forever.
I don't have any pictures of that fateful night, so this being the first photo of us, is a tribute (from about 6 months later)
