In May my daughter is graduating a year early from high school so this was likely our last “childhood era” Thanksgiving with her before she moves out, possibly abroad this summer. She’s always wanted to order Chinese takeout for Thanksgiving and that’s exactly what we did. It was glorious. No dishes

Under the Biden administration, veteran homelessness has decreased by 11.7% since 2020, reaching a record low in 2024. In contrast, during the Trump administration, it fluctuated, with a 1.5% increase in 2017 & a 5.4% decrease in 2018. The progress under Biden speaks volumes. Still, more to do.

Remember the thousands of homeless veterans across the country. Many are down on their luck, battling mental health challenges or addiction—none of which are reasons to cast them aside. Take a few minutes to visit a local shelter or kitchen and show gratitude through action. They deserve it.

This Thanksgiving, let’s remember the hundreds of migrant workers who make the feast possible. From harvesting cranberries and sweet potatoes to packing produce and processing turkeys, their labor is essential. They deserve more than thanks—they deserve fair wages, safe conditions, and respect.
