Chose one big book to pace for the entire year. Started the count of monte cristo & through 50 pages it seems dumas was quite fond of the words “pale” & “trembling,” which perfectly describe my social aura. 🐁

I love weekends most because I arbitrarily allow myself to eat everything (and ruin my cal deficit for the week). Two steps forward, two steps back, but the steps taste really good, so. 🦶🏻

when you set an alarm for a restaurant to start taking doordash orders because you wanna order faster than the scheduled order option allows (then you might be a loser with a food problem) 🫡

in favor but (as with anything) the topic is more complex than the public sentiment suggests. as the original article explains, ai has been used in various ways for longer than most people realize, & the academy is inherently reactionary: the fear is that they'll outright bar films that use...(cont)
The Academy is looking at requiring films to disclose if AI was used to be eligible for the Oscars

been revisiting & completing robert bresson's filmography, & was moved by mouchette to write an essay on bresson's objective storytelling style & why it's so affecting. my lazy ahh's last essay was in 2018 lol. would welcome any discussion. 🤓

Finally watched bresson’s trial of joan of arc & I think it’s THE perfect companion to dreyer’s take: one austere, one expressionistic, each with the director’s signature style & tone, & emphasize different aspects of her dangers while both being faithful to history. 😗🤌🏻

Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece DR. STRANGELOVE OR: HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE BOMB premieres.

4 Oscar noms: Picture, Peter Sellers-Actor, Director, Screenplay.

One of most brutally on-point satires; seems more possible than ever under current regime!

Can’t recall a film that weaponizes subtext & viewer knowledge more viscerally than zone of interest. Further, couldn’t have imagined a feeling more awful than from seeing the atrocities, but the banality of an officer’s family life in earshot of a camp is worse. Glazer is a genius (& I feel sick).

I have found a fun movie review from a man who is learning maybe he should avoid films with Joe Pesci.
Imaginary internet points to anybody who can guess which movie this is for.

Seeing a pizza on tv and then ordering a pizza is a good metaphor for how I usually decide what movie to watch (& is also something I do non-metaphorically). Last night: double indemnity. Tonight: ? 🍕🎥
