This is joyous! Laughter is a beautiful thing.
Lessons in laughter:

Dozens of you have shared this lovely video with me over the past couple days. And I just love that it illustrates two baby lessons in one. 🧵

EVERY CHILD CAN BE A READER! All kids need access to the widest possible range of books, free choice in their reading matter, and the right to read for pleasure. It only takes one book to help them find the love of reading - and that book will change their lives forever! #literacy

Yes.
There is no resit for playing. No second opportunity for joy and playfulness. I often ask the question, ‘Would I want to be six or four or nine here?’ Primary should be fizzing with joy, bubbling with enthusiasm and tinkling with laughter as much as we can possibly make it.

Well-meaning adults can easily crush a child's enthusiasm for reading by dismissing their choices, saying a book is no good. By all means introduce them to books you think are good, but never forget: it's all reading & it's all good! Let them READ FOR PLEASURE & they'll be readers forever! #literacy

Agree 100%.
There’s a phrase I often hear in education that makes me sad. It’s when I hear a colleague refer to a child or group as ‘my lowers’. That child is someone’s baby and I’d be so sad as a parent to hear them referred to and labelled in this way as somehow less or lacking.

This has really spoilt touring for my musician friends. I can’t think of a single positive to Brexit.
Clarkson is right. Brexit has made travelling to the EU with any kind of professional equipment, nightmarish. Carnets for cameras etc is a bureaucratic, expensive waste of time. But it applies to loads of industries, esp musicians/performing artists etc.

Jeremy Clarkson: Brexit makes me want to sit in a gutter and weep
Since we left the EU it’s been easier to get into Iraq than France. None of this has made our lives better in any way

Sold (completed on) my parents’ house yesterday. My dad died last year & my mum 6 years ago - both in their 60’s. I live round the corner. I have been living/going there since the age of 11 (37 years). Feels strange that I will never step foot in there again.

Gibb and the Tories basically presided over an era in which education became less inclusive. We can see this in the statistics on exclusion, with high levels of children with SEND.
Former schools minister Nick Gibb said 'we have let down thousands' of children with special educational needs who instead needed a 'very specialist approach'

Whatever happens, never forget: READING FOR PLEASURE has the biggest positive impact of any factor on children's life chances. So always make time to share books with kids, and help them find books to love. Make reading central to everything you do. It will change their lives forever!
