NYC is home 2 forests, meadows, and wetlands - & more biodiversity than many people realize. A new community-led report from the NYC Biodiversity Task Force, Oaks, Our City, & us, lays out a vision 4 how NYC can better support nature in every neighborhood.

Thanks to everyone who came yesterday for our pop-up walk in Prospect Park. We found a remarkable number of mushrooms and slime molds. Lala spotted the Densocarpa shanori, which is an ascomycete truffle that smells like rotten eggs—a very rare find indeed.

🦠: Tubifera ferruginosa
📍: Alley Pond Park

This immature Tubifera ferruginosa is strikingly easy to spot in the field. In this stage, it certainly lives up to its colloquial name: Raspberry Slime Mold

📍: Cloves Lake Park
We had a hot, dry, and somewhat windy week. So, though it did rain a fair bit, our pop-up walk in Clove Lakes Park, Staten Island didn't deliver a lot of mushrooms. There were some interesting slime molds, a few fine ascos and some birds nest fungi.
