If you support universal basic income, I recommend following these accounts.
Okay, early days, but here's a quick starter pack for Universal Basic Income with some accounts to follow besides mine, and the UBI feed that's super useful to leverage to find fellow UBI supporters and amplify their UBI content.

Reply if you want to be added as UBI-focused.

Added parts 38 and 39 to my Universal Basic Income evidence megathread today. They are the two studies that have resulted so far from the ongoing large and long-term UBI experiment in Kenya that @give-directly.bsky.social is doing. You can help by sharing the thread top or your favorite posts in it.
The 12-year Kenya UBI experiment is providing monthly payments to 5,000 people across 44 entire villages (all adults). Entrepreneurship shot up so much that wages went up and despite higher wages profits went up, and prices did NOT go up. Happiness went up though. A lot.

The most effective way to reduce child poverty is to dump the means-testing like we did in 2021, but I doubt Republicans will do that due to their insistence on punishing kids for having parents who don't earn enough money to be considered human. Best possible scenario I think is a boost to $5,000.
With the exception of a period during COVID, 20% of the poorest children in the country do not receive any or most of the child tax credit because their parents earn too little to pay income taxes.
What Will Happen to the Child Tax Credit Under a GOP-Controlled Congress?
Despite proposals on the campaign trail, there is unlikely to be a major expansion of one of the most popular policies.

Because the below skeet went viral here, and people are arguing over it, I'm going to share some more info about it from a thread I did at the other place. I really need to just do an article about it but haven't done that yet. Until then, I hope readers find this thread useful. 🧵
Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1,000 a month. A year later, nearly half of participants said they had housing.
Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.

In our most recent episode of The Basic Income Show, we talked about the problem of people going to work sick and how much that costs us all. Because universal basic income would reduce it, it's one of the ways UBI is cheaper than people tend to think it is.
