Looks like NCAR has lost its weather supercomputing center. This is really, really, really bad. The RAF (Research Aviation Facility) which has most of NCAR’s atmospheric chemistry research is likely next.

From Covid to NCAR to now (apparently) presidential approval ratings, the regime's stance is, anything that isn't measured isn't a problem.

Came to the comments to advocate for this very thing. Kudos

I see I'm on the outer end of the Bsky galaxy, on the outskirts of the Electronic Musicians & DJs constellation. Accurate enough.

That TPUSA half-time show was crap, they didn't even have a Charlie Kirk hologram

Kind of gives away the whole game that all the crypto ads this year have been replaced with gambling and AI ads.

This new Shackleton album is really something. I continue to be astounded by his ability to weave and groove, to maintain the internal logic of his own artistry while pushing forward in new & unexpected ways. There's so much going on, but also so much space. I remain in awe.

Clock drift means you're living in sin and need to change your diet and put a ring on it. Everyone knows that.

If they're intent on destroying evidence, they're not gonna let something like a TRO deter them. The judge is clearly placing his fingers on the scale, but i doubt it actually changes anyone's behavior. The regime has been thwarting judicial orders and the law from day one. Criminals gonna crime.

There should be a D&D monster called the Chotiner that’s completely harmless unless you speak to it.

Roll a wisdom saving throw to avoid engaging the Chotiner.

One almost feels sorry for Dante Spinotti, who seems like the kind of person that still believes his parents took the problematic family dog to a live on a big farm in the country.

Yeah, it seems mostly predominant among the entitled white rich kids who are into the ee-dee-emm, wook & burner scenes, at least here in the mountain west.

I've run into them enough times that it's no longer shocking, but I still feel traumatized from my first run-in with a MAGA deep house person.

That PVTA was able to secure funding for a production via an NEA grant last summer, and a performance run happening at this *exact* moment in American history feels miraculous. Because of this I would encourage any Front-Range Coloradans to see 1 of the 3 remaining performances.

It is testament to the screenplay & actor Rob Payo's talent that, even though I knew the details of Hirabayashi vs United States I still found myself sharing the character's incredulity & sadness as those entrusted with the duty of conferring Constitutional meaning let him down again and again.

Yesterday afternoon I saw a performance of "Hold These Truths", a 1-man play about Gordon Hirabayashi, an idealistic & patriotic Japanese-American who challenges Roosevelt's EO 9066 which allowed for the exclusion & detention of Japanese American citizens after WW2.

Knowing this administration, Rufo is probably close to securing $500 million in federal angel funding from Lutnick for his new orgone energy accumulator pod startup, with Kennedy waiting in the wings to start marketing them via a $100 million HHS-funded PR campaign.

The very well-accepted term for "stripping the legal protections of a minority group and then sending a paramilitary force to carry them away" is "ethnic cleansing."

They are planning to ethnically cleanse Springfield, Ohio.
Breaking MS NOW:

The Trump admin is now eyeing Ohio for immigration enforcement operations that could begin as early as next week.

The operation is expected to target Haitian immigrants — with temporary protected status for Haiti expiring on Feb. 3.

Some wisdom from my elders that was passed down to me long ago was to tell your friends and chosen family how beautiful they are and how much you appreciate them, and I never pass up an opportunity to do just that.

Most of the time I listen to stuff made with sequencers, eurorack modules, plugins, etc. but I've always had a real admiration & appreciation for Bruce.

Thank you Minneapolis for fighting the good fight for all Americans, and thank you Bruce for giving a shit.

Genuinely moving.
Holy shit. So this just happened at Minneapolis's legendary First Avenue club. That's Tom Morello introducing Springsteen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jHe...

They also have trouble with stuff they *can* read.

Some surveys conducted by the American Press Institute in 2018 found that almost 50% of Americans didn't know diff between reporting & op-eds; 26% able to successfully identify factual statement in news reports, 34% able to ID opinion statements.

My god, much of this article speaks so eloquently to my own inner conflicts, it’s uncanny.

When I try to purchase even inexpensive kit I think this is selfish and dumb (and hopeless) and wind up sending money to legal defense funds or struggling friends.

Fascism is a helluva writers block.
"Something about my relationship to dance music felt intensely compromised and inhibited by Trump’s love of disco. A lyric from a Swans record surfaces here: 'When you touch my things you soil them'".

Lee Gamble is one of the loveliest, most genuine people I've ever met in the scene, and while I adore the many moods of Mr. Gamble, banger-mode Lee Gamble is a definite treat. Thanks for the pointer :-)
