Such a fun night ❤️
If my student’s committee meeting had ended sooner on Thursday, I planned to take a quick walk to the FSU Student Union to grab lunch before my 12:30 class. Her meeting ran a bit late, then interrupted by a campus-wide lockdown alert for an active shooter. I’m ok, but devastated by the loss of life.

This cure for sickle cell anemia was made possible by NIH-funded research to turn the gene for fetal hemoglobin back on. It was done predominantly by NIH researchers, including intramural researchers on the NIH campus.

not paying indirect costs for research is like only paying the players in the Super Bowl.
can't have a Super Bowl without coaches, referees, security, janitors, announcers, stadium staff, and a stadium - and you can't have research without supporting people and facilities
