Granted, I’m fairly naive, but it has taken me 50 years to truly understand what George Carlin meant about the club that we’re not in. Today I’m at the laundromat because our dryer is busted, and it’s going to cost more than $20 to wash and dry 3 loads. I can’t imagine having to do this every 1/2

When I was an undergraduate, we had a time during finals when quiet hours were suspended and we could all scream or make as much noise as we wanted to for 10 minutes. I think we need that daily from now until they’re all gone.

I’m taking another pottery class today. I would never call myself an artist — I can’t draw, paint, play music, or build anything. There’s just something about getting my hands into some clay that helps my spirit to rest just for a short time. It’s helping me keep my sanity intact.
