Today I'm left wondering why when athletes act selfish, egotistical, and criticize anything that goes against them it's considered "being competitive" or having "fighting spirit?"
In any other part of society, that behavior is very much held up as a toxic trait.

That being said, #SanDiego has a budget shortfall that means this kind of thing seems like a wasteful use of taxpayer money at a time when there are libraries that can't even stay open full time.

As a native San Diegan and someone who's cooked in and ran restaurants all my life, I'm going to say this: there are way, way too many food service operations in the nation and especially in San Diego. I would be happy to see at least 25% of them go out of business.
San Diego wants hotels and restaurants to pay more for valet stands and on-street dining. It’s not going over well.
The plan to recover potential parking-meter revenue has drawn backlash from business owners. ‘We can’t absorb any more costs — we are teetering,’ one said.
