#nowwatching Malevolence 2: Bereavement (2010). I didn't like the first one at all, so naturally I'm moving straight on to the second. This is a prequel to the first one, and if nothing else it looks a lot nicer. #horrirsjy

#nowwatching Malevolence (2004). An old independent slasher that was served up to me by Tubi. A bunch of bank robbers take refuge in a house occupied by a...malevolent force. #horrorsky

I just failed to bench 90kg in the gym, which wouldn't be so bad, except all the larger boys laughed at me and kicked sand in my face, right in front of my best girl. Humiliating.

This was excellent - a very intense revenge thriller that starts fairly slowly, and gradually ramps up until it hits a frenzy. It's a story of human revenge, but also the revenge of nature and small communities against exploitation and despoilment.
#nowwatching Mermaid Legend (1984). I saw a few people recommending this recently and it sounded amazing, so I splashed out on a fancy boutique Blu-ray. Really excited to watch this! #horrorsky

#justwatched The Undead (1957), a psychological experiment leads a woman to become entangled in a past life. A bit of low-budget fun from Roger Corman, with an imaginative, if rather silly, story. #horrorsky

#nowwatching Frogman (2023). It doesn't have a great letterboxed rating, but I'm sure it'll be toadally awesome. Hopfully none of the nice characters croak. It's found footage, so I think we'll see everything, warts and all. So far, I'm ribbeted. #horrorsky

Bianchi displays flashes of style, but aside from Edwige Fenech there's barely a single likeable character in this. As the film plods along it starts to feel like a succession of nude/sex scenes half-heartedly interspersed with plot. A B- giallo, but a masterpiece compared to Burial Ground.
Ok, another Giallo. #nowwatching Strip Nude for Your Killer (1975). Goodness, what a salacious title! I do hope the name wasn't chose as a way to draw in an audience for a film that couldn't stand on its own merits. #horrorsky

In the gym, and #nowlistening to Act of Aggression by Electric Chair (2023). Fast, aggressive hardcore. Love it!

#nowwatching The Masque of the Red Death (1964). Somehow, a first time watch! Incredible atmosphere in the openinf scenes, and Vincent Price is having the time of his life. #horrorsky

I'm the only person in the entire world who thinks (dreadful cover and title aside) that 'What the...?' by Black Flag (2013) is a pretty good album.

#nowwatching The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh (1971). It's been a while since I watched a giallo, and you can't go wrong with Sergio Martino and Edwige Fenech! #horrorsky

#nowwatching The Ghost of Kasane Swamp (1957). I've had a Russian DVD of this sitting around for years, and only just realised it has English subtitles. I can follow the Japanese ok, but it's good to get the nuances! #horrorsky

#nowwatching The Leopard Man (1943). A Val Lewton/Jacques Tourneur collaboration. A string of murders is attributed to an escaped leopard...but is the big cat really to blame? #horrorsky

I've just picked up a ticket to see Youth of Today in a couple of weeks. Along with Black Flag a couple of years ago, and Circle Jerks and Gorilla Biscuits next year, I'm doing pretty well on finally seeing all the old #hardcore #punk bands I used to be obsessed with.

An interesting video on animal rights in Japan from a vegan perspective. Nothing surprising to me. It's not easy being vegan in Japan, and awareness of animal rights among the general public is almost zero.
I need to share my thoughts about my trip to Japan

Busy, but closing out the day with a film. #nowwatching Host (2020), a pandemic horror about friends having a seance over a webcam. I've seen this once before, but I don't remember all that much about it. #horrorsky

Good film! A very clever script - I enjoyed the interactions between the characters, and the dismantling of horror conventions. It also had fun playing with racial stereotypes and politics, as well as intergroup prejudices.
#nowwatching The Blackening (2022). Friends on a group holiday are threatened and forced to play a game by a mysterious stranger. #horrorsky

Cheaply made, flatly written, and woodenly acted, with a brief moment of animal abuse (Lenzi's cannibal film background on display). Still, there's an (admittedly clumsy) anti-colonial message I can get behind, and the zombies are unique - the nooses around their necks are a nice touch.
#nowwatching Black Demons (1991), a production from the waning days of 80s zombie mania, and the last horror film directed by Umberto Lenzi. On a Brazilian plantation, the victims of a failed slave rebellion are resurrected and start to take their revenge... #horrorsky
