China and Russia and the US all seem huge but probably half of the land on each of them is uninhabitable desert/tundra. But I guess "world medium-power" doesn't look as good on a patriotic box of pop-tarts.

In the future schools will be a virtual reality/sensory experience where you are being physically abused by an old schoolmarm or nun while a different part of your brain learns STEM.

These are the best of them all, funnier and more influential to any comedy you like than anything on SNL. Mr. Show, Tim and Eric, the SNL you remember liking from the 90s. Every time Tim makes Gregg move from his chair on On Cinema, this is where that's from. Rest in Peace Catherine.
SCTV is on Internet Archive if you'd like to enjoy the early work of Catherine O'Hara and her fellow sketch comedy gods.

I think it was possible they would have gotten better results remastering Inland Empire from like a scan of a film print or intermediate. The AI upscale has bizarre edges, especially around the blown out whites and in wideshots. Ah well.

Faramir kidnapping Sam and Frodo feels like an extra level that only happens in the video game. At the end Sam fights Faramir who has become enraged by the ring.

I think when people talk about David Lynch as some inscrutable enigma they just aren't paying close attention to the work. The emotions are usually clear as a bell and plot/character mechanics are secondary.

Y'know I really did love Dilbert when I was a kid. Scott Adams seemed very unwell so hopefully he is at peace now.

I believe the people on their cell phone earbud setup, walking their dog but impatiently yanking them away from things to smell, are probably all the same people trying to replace love with two-step authentication.

I think the thing in Batman where you can't read words in dreams is made up. I've done that at least once.

I read 4 1/2 Pynchons this year which was quite a thing. Vineland was my favorite, AtD I felt connected to in odd ways, I ain't done with Mason and Dixon yet but if I'm being objective that's his golden chestnut.

The Rob Reiner thing is seriously horrible. There's a lot of pain leading up to something like that.

I want to make an inland empire ive decided. Just shoot some stuff and see how it fits, no wrangling a script or a plan that takes so long to execute. Just collect and see what grows.
