I don't trust any politician who is not willing to admit the creation of the Department of Homeland Security was a mistake that needs to be rolled back ASAP.

Patriot Act too.

Everyone's talking about some "gay hockey movie" in 2026 but the NHL introduced the shootout in 2005.

ICE Agents Want Out of Minnesota…

Trump’s ‘Battle Is Lost’…

Morale inside the ranks is collapsing…

One veteran ICE agent bemoaned that “the brand new agents are idiots.”

He blamed what he saw as lowered hiring standards for the chaos in Minnesota.

I had big plans to participate in an economic blackout and attend a protest today. My car had other ideas. I ended up paying $165 on a tow and not attending the protest.

Today's dilemma: when attending a protest during an economic blackout, do you pay for parking?

Bob Dylan says "Pay your parking meters" so I guess I'll go with Bob and look for metered street parking.

Taking a half day off work because I'm sucked into watching the news.

ICE murdered someone in Minneapolis today. MPD let the murderer go but is collecting evidence, so we'll see what happens.

Kristi Noem is in town and I can't help but notice that all my neighbors are keeping their dogs inside today.

@sluggodoug.bsky.social Favorite cover: Walt Mink's version of "Pink Moon" by Nick Drake.

I realize this is two levels of obscure artists.

Just saw "One Battle After Another". My thoughts:

It's pretty good.

It could have been half an hour shorter.

Leo plays against type.

Sean Penn plays the most Sean Penn character ever.

I haven't seen a whole lot of Diane Keaton films. The two I'm most familiar with are The Godfather parts 1 & 2. You might think she doesn't have much to do in those films, but what she does have to do is crucial.

I'm not talking about the new Taylor Swift album for the same reason my mom isn't talking about the new Nine Inch Nails album.

Me: Software engineers need to be better at documenting processes! It would save time for our colleagues.

My boss: Here is a list of each process each of you owns. Please update the documentation.

Me: Fuck you.

It's lead water pipe replacement day at my house!

Turned out to be two days because they broke a drill bit on some rocks under my front yard.

He hated poverty, war, and injustice - unlike the rest of you squares.
My last living musical hero is still my hero but unfortunately no longer living. RIP to the great, great Mr. Tom Lehrer.

John Haiman was my advisor at Macalester. I never used my linguistics degree and wasn't much of a student, but I liked John.

I think they shouldn't Zamboni after the first overtime period. No rest for the players either. Get out there and get this game over with. The longer it takes the worse the ice gets.
