Willow is one of my all-time favorite movies, and I'm glad to see it getting some good attention, but it's absolutely wild to write an entire article about it without talking about Sorsha at all, even a little.

So many words about the Eborsisk (!), and zero about Sorsha!
Willow (1988) taught a generation of fantasy fans about hope, resilience, and trusting lovable rogues claiming to be great swordsmen. Let's discuss what we love about Willow--and if Madmartigan was Val Kilmer's greatest role:

#Willow

Anyway if Eurofan life sounds fun to you, but it feels too overwhelming, you feel like you can't even dip your toe in because it's too big and too much, drop me a line!

I'm always happy to do a non-scary guide to Eurofan music discovery!
I truly don't understand why you wouldn't want to be a Eurofan during the glorious months of November thru May.

I mean, who wouldn't want to get consistent little dopamine hits as countries drop songs and you discover new favorite artists and music?

It's like getting music gifts all the time!

Second night of Chanukah.

Add your light to someone else's light. Add my light to your light. Together, we make the world brighter and brighter.

How dark can the world be, when we shine like this together?

Behold, the platonic ideal of the perfect latke (with sour cream, as god intended it.)

It's the first night of Chanukah. The darkest part of the winter.

Our light feels so small sometimes. But when it's this dark, even a small light--especially a small light--makes all the difference.

Don't be discouraged. Never forget how important your light is.

Okay friends. I’m looking for picture book recommendations for a princess-obsessed 4yo. Must be very princessy, and also easy/fun to read for her very tired parents. Recommend away!

lol all the bluesky elders are like 6 months old. we all got here together, let’s all be peers and friends and also not jerks.
I have now seen two people say "respect your bluesky elders" unironically since I woke up and look its a public site not a fraternity hazing, ppl need to relax a bit

Even though I don’t have the spoons to fall down the #SanremoGiovani rabbit hole right now, it gives me a sense of much-needed and elusive peace to know that great Italian music is happening right now, is out there if I want to pick it up and listen to it. Happiness is new Italian music.

Today's word is GAZE. Today's #BookQW from DIRECT DESCENDANT, a "cozy horror" from @dawbooks.bsky.social April'25. If you don't usually read horror (Hello! Me either.) but you read me, I guarantee this is much less horrific than either SMOKE & MIRRORS or BLOOD DEBT. Promise.

Shop indie if you can.

In a nutshell
October 9, 2023 at 2:23 AM
I’ll say this once, simply: anyone, anywhere, who justifies any iota of this violent terror, is not someone I can have in my life.

I’m not interested in whataboutism, or, at this very moment, the larger picture.

Do not make excuses for why any of this is okay. Full stop.

My heart is breaking and my heart is across the sea with my cousins and siblings and extended Jewish family in Israel.

Beyond horrific. Beyond devastating. I have too much to say and nothing to say and I am not okay and will not be okay.

Donut of the day: caramel macchiato brioche, and yes, it is exactly as delicious as it looks.
