As always, the companion playlist (and, truthfully, my favorite part of year-end list-making):

Seems like this is the day everyone in my field is doing this, so here's some selected highlights from my 2025 in freelance writing:

First, the biggest one: got to write my first album bio for Alan Sparhawk. Huge dream come true, and would love to write more bios / materials for releases in 2026.
I'm so unbelievably touched to be asked to write the bio for this incredible new record from Alan Sparhawk (of @lowtheband.bsky.social)—a tremendous gift to put this album from someone I've long admired into words

Out on @subpop.bsky.social on May 30th, preorder here: www.subpop.com/releases/ala...

Anyway, thanks to so many of you for sticking with me this year and making this year tolerable, in spite of everything screaming in our faces

Already can promise that my 2026 in writing is gonna be even better. Excited to share some of the unbelievable stuff I'm working on in the new year <3

the Avatar: Fire and Ash moment i think about most is when Lo'ak narrates a whole montage of Jake uniting the Na'vi clans and says, "he made the great speeches," and the only thing we hear from Jake is, "many arrows... TOGETHER... are STRONG... and cannot easily be broken..."

MARTY SUPREME is the monoculture. It is Great Entertainment, a black hole that consumes all of American cinema. Went long on its virtues and vices for @lareviewofbooks.bsky.social

Please donate if you're able to. This is an unthinkable amount of money for an unthinkably fucked up situation. Anything helps, trans sex workers deserve to have families
I am fundraising for an anonymous friend, who is a trans sex worker and POC. They are at risk of losing custody of their children. Please, please donate. This is a situation that is painful and scary beyond description.
