In a world without forest and creeks, where do the children play? My new essay explores peer cultures and the strangeness of Western childhood. Heavily inspired by work from @dorsaamir.bsky.social and Sheina Lew-Levy :)

Just sharing a public thank you to the SIPs + PsyArXiv volunteers for maintaining such a successful resource

I understand the frustration of those with preprints that were temporarily removed but I think this is a good chance to reflect on the volunteer work of others that we often take for granted
Due to a recent influx of problematic submissions, PsyArXiv has switched to pre-moderating its content. If your submitted preprint had not yet been approved, it will be temporarily inaccessible to the public (you can still view your preprint when logged into your OSF account). #PsychSciSky

Lately I've seen a lot of advice ending with:

Talk to your Data Steward / Grants Manager / PR Officer / Confidential Advisor

Sure... If we had those 🤣

Always useful to hear what works in well-funded settings. But let's not forget that other voices and solutions need to be heard too. #AcademicSky

IMHO one reason being a professor is stressful (and professors are constantly late and absent-minded) is that it's not just one job, it's three or four jobs in a trenchcoat.

Plowed away the past few days catching up on research stuff and now I'm even more behind on email and admin 😢

It never ends

We say something similar in Brazilian Portuguese ("quer dizer") and I agree
in French we don't say "that means" we say "that wants to say" and I think that's beautiful
