When you study narrative, what you're really looking at is the architecture of how meaning is disseminated through a reader. Aesthetic illusion is one of the most powerful tools for rhetorical delivery known to man. This is why I give a shit about genre fiction.

I just want to remind everyone that in 2008, the right labeled a fist bump as a "terrorist fist jab," and now they're celebrating an actual sieg heil salute from Elon Musk. Tell me again how this administration isn't racist. Tell me again that I've been overreacting.

One of the privileges afforded to wealth is the privilege to fail. Everyone fails when trying new things, but wealth enables the ability to fail over and over again without losing everything.

Trying to work your way into academia in 2025 is a fairly dehumanizing process. My labor is exploited, and what little income I take from that goes to conferences, where I'm providing the labor. I wish I didn't want this so damn much.

I was hanging out with a group today, and talking with a new friend while they were drawing. Before I left, they gave me this. This small gesture made me realize just how much connection has faded from social media. What started out as networks of friends has become too parasocial. Thanks, Hunter 🫶🏻

Eggers' Nosferatu works because of how it layers meaning, giving the audience a lot of freedom with how deeply they might engage with the text. Is it about coming to terms with ones self and their sexual trauma, or is it about a woman accepting herself as a sexual being under patriarchy? Is it both?
