I was talking to a group of CEOs a few days ago about AI Governance. When asking for feedback at the end of the session, one of them seemed underwhelmed:

“I was expecting you’d give us prompts to come up with the best policies.”

While updating my website with AI tools, I reviewed the new speaker page multiple times before publishing. Everything looked good.

Only later did I discover AI had completely rewritten my conference titles!

A personal “faux-pas” that made me think about AI. Am I primed or what? :-)

I have a pretty basic principle for how I use AI in my work:

I want to use AI in a way that keeps connecting dots in my brain, instead of letting AI connect the dots for me.

This isn't about being anti-tech. Far from it! It's about understanding where value actually lives.

I had fun recording this podcast for TerraLex Insights. I talked a bit too much (hard to fight one's own nature!) but hopefully, it is still useful. open.spotify.com/episode/40LG...

My last essay. What if our chatbots spoke in a way that helped us recognize them as machines? Would we lose the magic, or would we gain something more valuable? open.substack.com/pub/noeliaam...

The fact that what we're discussing is still very relevant after some months speaks to the permanence of what we're exploring: ethical dilemmas, values, and rights that transcend the latest headlines.

I had so much fun during this discussion, and it was a great excuse to watch Blade Runner again! 🤖

I have not tried Deep Research (neither Open AI's nor Google's) but I have tried STORM, a prototype of a similar tool launched by Stanford’s OVAL Lab and, I have to say, it was very impressive, at least for a non-researcher like me.

I have heard about multiple worldwide initiatives to train general-purpose models focused on languages other than English, with governments investing considerable amounts of money to build models like the “Spanish GPT” ALIA, for example, with $1.5 billion investment.

I have just participated on a podcast where we talked about translation as one of the most positive applications of AI.

Maybe I should be ashamed of myself, or perhaps I can blame it on choosing science over humanities at school... But while I have read Orwell’s 1984 and often heard references to his dystopian world, I don’t remember hearing of his teacher, Aldous Huxley, nor his book Brave New World. Thread 👇

I read the news of Apple AI displaying a piece of fake news and attributing it to the BBC over the weekend, and I saw it as a cautionary tale of what irresponsible release of gen AI-based products can do. 👇
