A wonderful soul is gone from us. Thanks to everyone who spoke to me, or wrote down their thoughts, for this piece on the terribly sad loss of Manchán Magan.

I'd the best time at Electric Picnic. Shattered, but it was great. Reviewed Sam Fender at the main stage last night. You can read it here: www.irishtimes.com/culture/musi...
Sam Fender is not a typical frontman but his songs really connect with Electric Picnic audience
Fans sing so hard that at times it’s hard to hear the main man over extremely questionable yodelling

Four journalists were killed by an Israeli strike on a Gaza hospital today, including Mariam Dagga, a freelancer with the @apnews.com. She has a 12-year-old son, who was evacuated from Gaza earlier in the war.

She was a true hero, like all of our Palestinian colleagues in Gaza.

Blur or Oasis? For me, the real battle was between grunge and Britpop. Wrote about it for @irishtimes.com today. www.irishtimes.com/culture/musi...
I paid €440 for an Oasis ticket in Croke Park, and I’m not even a huge fan
For a teenager in rural Ireland, the things the brothers sang about felt superficial after Kurt Cobain’s anguish. But Oasis, who are about to play at Croke Park, were part of the wave that swept grung...

I met up with the brilliant Brendan Gleeson ahead of his return to the stage. You can read the interview here: www.irishtimes.com/culture/stag...
Brendan Gleeson: ‘I can’t go into a pub any more. I really miss it’
With The Weir, the star returns to the stage after a 10-year absence. It’s a play he loves for its portrayal of the Irish as a people

Thanks so much @nadineoregan.bsky.social - very cool to be in the @irishtimes.com & see beloveds @hollyblack.bsky.social & Leigh Bardugo but also having Irish fantasy celebrated like my lovely @rflong.bsky.social & Cat Doyle! We’re here, we’re… very wary around fairy rings…
Fab article in today's @irishtimes.com on the Rise of the Romantasy Genre by @nadineoregan.bsky.social which mentions me (as Jessica Thorne), @sarahreesbrennan.bsky.social and Catherine Doyle. Irish romantasy & fantasy romance ftw! :D Thanks so much Nadine!
