It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Many will not be able to afford their health insurance premiums, will have no choice but to go without. This will end badly for some and result in medical debt and bankruptcy. From first-hand experience, ovarian cancer costs about $180,000 the first year.

Health insurance is unaffordable. We are going to pay $2,000/month beginning next year. This takes a big bite and will displace so many other things we need to do, like putting a new roof on our house. This is an economic drag on many sectors, will have ripple effect. It’s English major economics.
