You can now read two of my favorite poems from my time living in Colorado, 'PLENTY' and 'PYRE'! One is very grounded in daydreaming, and one is very unstable from nighttime dreaming. Thank you to Dodging the Rain for having me.

I'll post a picture later but my copy of @justfemmeanddandy.bsky.social Just Femme and Dandy Mixtape came in the mail today! So cool to have my poems about lip gloss printed in a very chic deconstructed zine format, I love having a physical record of my work

I highly recommend having a former English teacher as your therapist if you're a poet. It's so nice when they have insight into both your personal and creative issues.

I've always felt like I need to say I'm really excited about my upcoming work being published and I always am on some level but lately I've been feeling like some really hard won accomplishments that I love with all of me are blooming around me and I'm buzzing to share

Generally speaking I think it's better to write and figure out where you want to end up but I will admit I thought about my first creative nonfiction essay that I'm going to submit tomorrow for so long it sprang from my head like Athena from Zeus

New job training is crazy, but I'm 10 for 10 on daily poems for National Poetry Writing Month, and I'm going to write a scene for my fiction project this weekend, and draft an essay in the next ten days, and there's other stuff to come, and I guess what I'm saying is nothing will stop me
April 11, 2025 at 12:39 AM
Six days into national poetry writing month and finally a new first draft I feel went somewhere fun (I'm trying for one per day, we'll see with new job starting tomorrow)

Officially got confirmation in the night that my first short story is going to be published! I'm a fiction writer now, this is so wild and wonderful

Heard back (it was a no) about a submission I had sent in so long ago I'd forgotten what was in the packet, opened the packet on my laptop, and involuntarily murmured "fuck you, these are great" anyways I stand by my work lmao

New day job acquired, two publishing acceptances in one day, I am relishing victory. One of those poems I've submitted more than five places previously. Never give up.

Six hours and some back and neck pains later I have screeched and wailed and clawed my way to being once again on top of my #poetry submissions and we're just going to ignore the #essay that is looming for me to write I have like a month exactly ok

I had a writing professor in college who said most new writers worry what they have to say is "too weird" or "too boring", which I think is true. However, I've realized I've unlocked a new fear recently, being "too pretentious", which somehow feels like both of the previous options at once. Fun!

Putting some time aside tonight to listen to new Playboi Carti and read more Charles Simic

There's something lightly surreal and nostalgic about Lady Gaga and Panda Bear releasing new (actually good) albums at the same time again, feels like I'm in college

2 very kind tiered rejections from journals today, but I still feel like crying. I hate how much of this year has been almost being good enough.

I haven't been posting much bc the seasonal depression is mighty and I haven't had any good news to share but I think I should maybe just thought drop again and not assume people are only interested in me or my art when I'm succeeding bc what does that even mean in the end
