Since joining @bsky.app sadly I've been plagued with impersonators trying to scam and fraud my followers . . . the latest iteration is below . While they say they are a 'fanpage' , I can assure you that is not the case !

Please report them – thanks !

Feels quite profound to live through the global extinction of a bird in your own region. Last one was the Great Auk about 170 years ago. I remember tourists travelling to see Slender-billed Curlews a few hours flight from London; trip reports & photos in the magazines.

The slender-billed curlew is declared extinct
This is the first mainland European bird declared extinct in 500 years.

Just a reminder to Norfolk birders joining bluesky there's a Norfolk birding feed you can add to your feeds, if you use #NorfolkBirding it will also be picked up by the national UK birding feed too, no need to use both hashtags.
If anyone's interested I've created a Norfolk birding feed to bring together bird news posts from Norfolk. Use the hashtag #Norfolkbirding

How to take part in Wildflower Hour which is EVERY Sunday 8-9pm. During the week find an open flower (wild or naturalised, not planted) from anywhere across Britain & Ireland & share on Sunday evening using #wildflowerhour! Fancy an extra challenge? See if you can find ten blooms for #thewinter10!

Tonight, the Woodcock Moon rises. 🌕

Folklore whispers of Woodcocks awaiting this moonlit night to cross the seas and arrive in huge numbers on our shores.

It was believed tiny Goldcrests journeyed with them—riding on their backs!

Look up for the final Supermoon of the year.

Taking some time to stop, let your eyes adjust, look & listen. A walk at Pretty Corner woods this evening as part of the Norfolk Protected Coast Partnership Dark Skies festival.
