Hopping back on for a year-end summary and honestly, not a great year for me personally. A lot of struggles going on in my family. Professionally it was a bit better but not as good as my 2023 and 2024. But one really cool thing happened that maybe I'll talk about some day.

I don’t want to say “Unplugging yourself from world news is beneficial to your mental health”. Because turning a blind eye to world events IS irresponsible. But I do think limiting the amount you hear about the actions of evil people does help focus your mind and not give in to despair.

From my experience the pay looks about the same as Non-U video game voice over work. I don't think I've even done a session longer than 2 hours. The idea that that your average voice actor is a millionaire is obviously laughable.
For reference—these numbers are public-facing on the Dubbing Agreements page—
If you're working a UNION anime job, your take-home pay for a 2hr session will be a little under $250 (if you have taxes withheld) or $300 (if you don't).
The latter is about what you'd earn in two 8-hour days at $18/hr.

I make most of my earnings from conventions, and even then I am not rich; that's WITH a somewhat steady workflow and con appearances.
